Alexander, I feel your pain and frustration. Since switching to the deus 11 master I’m digging lots of trash I don’t want to dig . If I could make a suggestion? When the temptation to rant comes along , take out your old detector, it will give you a break from what is hard work and give you more confidence in you abilities. Hope all becomes less confusing soon , John.

That jetton really is special. In 3 years I have seen one dug up once before you, and it did not look like that. More like barely discernable. Tipping drivers or grabbing a cup of tea on the go would be a good reason to dig up modern quids. Had a cold front blow in yesterday. Supposed to have a short freeze tonight up here in the hills. Loving it!

By far my favourite quote of any detecting video “you shouldn’t be made to feel like this”. Really made me laugh. I have changed to a deus 2 and have had exactly the same rant!! I don’t want to state the obvious Alex but I find using the pin point on the machine really helps with the depth of a target, I usually find anything under 4 inches of the surface screams at you , anything over the 4inches is much quieter. I pin pointed every target when I first used the dues 2 but now I hardly ever do knowing the depth of the target. Stick at it, after nearly 2 years of using the dues i still feel like going back to my XP ORX 😂 Taski will be pleased once you’ve mastered it and can take him out after not concentrating on the machine so much 😂 Best of luck 🎉 Edit: I see you don’t use the deus remote but may be worth using it on the stem just for the target depth

Hi Alexander. I've just read your comments; I hope you dont feel so bad knowing that so many people have found the jump between Deus I and II quite difficult. And there are several people commenting here who clearly don't get it. Yes, Deus II Master set up is a beast! Yes, you'll get ridiculous depth! Yes, it's a very steep learning curve and Yes, you are right to stick with it and learn it! Your comments about sensitivity are spot on but I'd leave the discrimination alone. Someone said something really useful; try looking at the numbers for a change. Its true, if you get deep iron, the numbers are extremely jumpy, but if you get a deep target masked by crap, you should be able to pick out the good target, and you'll see in the numbers that the target separation when you have 2 or more things in the same hole is insane! You just can't hear it. When I first got mine I dug loads of iron, but also loads of holes with mutiple signals. When you learn to trust what the machine is telling you, you'll be on fire... promise❤

Great video and lovely Jetton 😊 you don’t need the remote but i find it helps to id the iron, the times I get tricked with the D2 on deep iron I get a lot of 85/86 jumping id’s and you will get the iron buzz on deep 12+ targets, the nox manticore and the D2 mostly do the same. I ran general 0.71 full tones for over a year and never dug any iron and could always id it but with 1.10 it’s like they have opened the machine up a bit more so iron comes in, bit like the manticore. The trade off for increased depth over the D1 is learning the machine all over, good luck👍

Hi Alex, please don't complain about the DEUS II, juste use it longer, as you did with DEUS I, I am sure it took a while before you mastered it. Other bell song I told you to stay with DEUS I... and the 2 quids scattered all over the place alongside with the bottle tops reminds me of a music festival that took place there. Grrat video, that jetton is a stunner.. well done. Good luck learning the deus .. ive noticed a couple of bits of gold ive found with it have been dosgy sounding signals. The machine can definitely find the targets, but sometimes they do sound off. Having the control unit helps, i use the x/y screen. If its lead its usually not quite a straight line, but when its iron... you can see it.

@HolzHammerSagas yes, great thank you. Just as it happens, I found another bit of gold today. I met a couple while I was out and they'd lost a ring about a month ago. I asked them to show me where and I found it in about 1 minute. It was a rose gold and diamond ring. They were so happy to get it back, and I got a few photos of it first, for my memories. That was obviously on the surface, in a field, rang up about 77 I think. What are the chances of them seeing me in the field. They'd spent hours looking for it. I did tell them the only reason I got into metal detecting is because I'd lost a set of keys, about 3 fields away from where we were, when I couldn't find them I bought a vanquish 340... after finding my keys I got instantly hooked on detecting. My second hole ever was a 1945 wren farthing with a little hole in it.. Within about a month I'd upgraded to a nox 600, and now I have a deus 2 . I've been detecting for nearly 3 years and spent every spare moment either detecting, cleaning and researching finds or watching others detecting on KZread lol.. it's such an amazing hobby and I feel blessed I found it. I also found about £16.50 in spendables today, but only one pre decimal. A George 5th penny... lol I was on a site that has a music festival on there, which is why there are so many spendables.. Take care.

I still keep getting fooled as with them numbers your expectations are a George coin etc. keep the sens down to 95 it cleans the signals up. It will all come good in the end.

Hey, great work as ever Alex, (& yes, that English Jetton is an absol. classic hey? 🤩). I totally get you where the D2 confusion/frustration is concerned - I keep looking at my Deus 1 (now permanently 'riding' on the back seat of my car, as a mere 'backup'). I miss using it very much, but just won't allow myself to... 😮‍💨 However, I honestly think I'm not digging much (if any) more iron now with the D2, but I am definitely still slower!... 😱 The 1 positive I take from this, is that I reckon I'm going thru the land more thoroughly, ie. Deeper. I guess this points towards an *ever more* scientific/laborious approach - so yes: "Arghhh!!..." less fun, again!!... Ah well, we still love it hey?... So why not try to make and save one with the same sounds and settings on the single freq mono program that is as close as you can of your favorite hot deus 1 program and when a deep questionable target pops up on your favorite deus 2 program, toggle over to your custom mono single freq program and compare the signals. Once you get the hang of it you should dig less iron. Still very good finds...the ornate item may be some kind of military badge. Hope you are doing good!!

@@HolzHammerSagas I started the hobby with the D2 so I guess it’s a little different circumstance. I’m just getting to grips with it after 15 months, it is a more complicated machine. I found my first Roman hoard with it so I love it obviously 😂😂 I’m sure you’ll get your head around it soon enough and like the other comments say the updates will get better. I love your videos! Stick with it 👍🏼 ps try Jason jones magnet program on arable land and pasture. Hi Alex, it is very interesting to hear your opinion about your experiences with the Deus 2. This is how we and you learn through our reactions. Although it is not completely comparable because you are only looking for sound, my advice would be to try to include the numbers and the x/y axis. It will make all the difference and of course as I said before you should forget about the Deus 1. Thanks again for your upload, I look forward to your next one! 😉👍

There is a learning curve, as with anything. Can you recall how long it took you to master the Deus 1? Could we be a wee bit impatient with the Deus 2? Think of it as driving a race car and comparing it to your daily commuter car. Granted, the Deus 1 is a high end daily driver, but compared to a race car? Remember, your fans will watch regardless of what machine you choose to use.

Why not have some sessions of learning not treasure hunting, so get someone to go out with you carrying the D1, every signal you find with the D2 decide what you think it is and how deep etc, then scan with the D1 and compare make decide what you think it is, finally dig it (yes all of them) to confirm. Or use the D1 and when you find a good target use the D2 and play with the setting to get a similar response.

Well Alex, don't think that what I say holds too much water, I am certainly no expert but; consider this; any machine, any.... has its depth limits, of course it does and if you sink , say that wonderful Jetton down lower and lower into the ground there will come a point where the strong signal becomes enigmatic, it's just physics I guess. You will see on the detecting hub my rant about the D2 and the Manticore 'Manticore Vs Deus 2' I am much like you are with your D2 at the moment, I want someone who knows what they are talking about to do a simple side by side test with the D2 and the Manticore but I keep getting "well probablies" and "maybees" it is so frustrating. I think with the D2 even you might benefit by using a control box? Regarding your absolutely wonderful jetton...I know the literature, such as it is, say these are 'counters' but were they really??? Do we really know? The reason I ask this (many times over the years) is because someone has to go to all the trouble of manufacturing these jettons for counting, how much did they cost and what would YOU have done in those days, bought some jettons for counting or used buttons! It makes no sense to me but maybe I am a bit of a dinosaur. Lovely vid again and thank you Alex.

I would miss these vids but I would rather you enjoyed life and not feel pressurised so I suggest, enjoy detecting and make a vid when/if you feel like it. If you're not digging bottle tops and pulltabs, you're not looking for gold, simple aa that, I don't care how much you think you know about detecting.

I agree CS in every case …this ground is used for fairs etc; the new stuff is in the first/ 2 or 3 inches the good stuff is underneath it… I got very good at knowing what to leave …

For those of us who use the Deus detectors, this is very informative. I have the 1&2. I’m not a millionaire, I work hard. I’m relieved to see it’s not just me that struggles with the signals the 2 gives. I tend to dig far too much rubbish but being quite new to this I feel like I have to dig everything so it’s good to know more experienced detectorists have the same issues. If Deus ever bring a detector out that finds rubber and plastic I’ll come and have a look for your dummy.
