Saxontastic! Great that the finds are there in the first place, but even better to have such kind soil that they come up in such great nick. As for the glass eye in the strap end - don't you just love making that sort of discovery? Makes it even more special. "Wise old boy" indeed! 🤣🤣🤣

The being able to day dream while you detect is one of the most therapeutic parts of this hobby so use the deus 1 when you want to unwind ( or even tape a mole to a hockey stick) and when you feel you have the beans go for the 2. Bottom line is enjoy your day but I must say what tip top buckles, strap ends and horse stuff you got never mind amazing Roman to boot 👍🇨🇦

I always had a thought. Roman's conquer and sack a town. Soldier finds a cache of coins in a nobles house. Slips it into his pocket. What better time to hide it hoping to return later when he's in the woods taking care of business. But sadly the next battle he's killed and doesn't return. Anyway just musings. Jolly great hunt. Love the finds.

Hi Alex, you might well of come across an Anglo-saxon Cemetery site, with the "small-long brooch", although they usually come in pairs! And you would have to find many more examples on your site, even if fragmentary, to be sure. The copper plate with "pointed ends", is a timber-clamp perhaps for a wooden coffin as ive found a few examples on one of my cemetery sites. The beautiful strap-end and hook tag is saxon, but from the middle/later period. Be interesting to see what else turns up on your site. You are a great role-model for the hobby and enjoy your videos very much. Keep going. Regards christian.

The copper "staple" will be anglo-saxon in date and there should be some hammer strikes on the surface if you look closely. I hope ive been of help. Many regards christian.

If your D2 is being sparky, you might try turning the sensitivity down a bit if you’re using the factory sens FT program. Also if your soil has any bits of coke or mineralization, or if it’s wet, definitely try the General program. Just change it to full tones in the menus if that’s what you like to hear. General has conductive soil subtraction and sens ft has frequency addition. It make a gigantic difference

Give it 6 months and you will be able to relax like you did with the D1. Well if you give up on -6.4 discrimination - that’s your problem! Love the Saxon finds from the clothes hook to that lovely strap end. Can’t believe you said the Roman coin was one of your favourite finds of the day after those beautiful Saxon finds! Sacrilege 😮

@@HolzHammerSagas I get what you are saying, I felt the same. However the values are different on both machines and -6.4 on the D2 creates a lot of false iron signals and just makes it unstable. You’ll get ground feedback with a positive number. You’ll notice not a single stock programme on the D2 goes below positive 6.1, and that’s the mono programme! Drop it below the stock +6.8 on SFT by all means, but do it slowly. A value around +1-3 should get you the feedback you want without the falsing and other audio distortions. We should do a comparison on it to prove the point.

Its taken quite a few months and I agree, I have to concentrate more with the Deus II. Do you not think you would benefit from looking at the numbers on the box ? I’ve had my Deus 2 for 6 months now and I couldn’t use it without looking at the numbers. Would definitely help you with identifying Iron. The other option is to set the relic program up for IAR to 5 and reactivity to 2.5 and switch between the programs on signals that your are not sure about. It’s a very quick way of double checking for iron.

Hi Alexander. I think a lot of ex Deus I users are struggling with the transition to the Deus II. I got one this year and having never used the Deus I can compare it favourably to the old XP Goldmaxx Power. You've just got to get use to it. I've just about figured out how to not dig iron targets - none on the last 2 digs. You just have to trust the machine. I've had a lot of positive signals masked by iron in the same vicinity just because its so sensitive. I guess if it sounds vaguely positive dig it any way? Maybe start by turning the sensitivity down a bit until you feel more positive about what you're hearing? Either that or try the smaller coil. It works, and you're not going to miss much other than the crap👍
