I'm proud of you, friend. You do have intimacy with the machine, and special people like you makes the things seens "so easy". They can be simple, but I always say that "simple doesn't mean easy". Congratulations, and thanks for proving us humans can do the things! Even because, machines are human made... Best regards!

Very helpful video. My experience (2008 F800ST) was that I could not remove the valve cover without first removing the heat shield immediately in front of it. To do so, displace the radiator as shown in the video, then access 2 screws holding the heat shield in place by working from under the bike. If you remove the heat shield first, the valve cover comes off without interference. It's essential to do this before re-installing the valve cover so you might as well do it first.

I'd really thank you for this tutorial. It helped me a lot changing sparks on my BMW. Efectively no need of specific BMW removal tool, just son W40 will.work. Thanks again mate!

thanks to your video I was able to change the head gasket of my F800S on my own, and I gave zero mechanical experience! The part only was $51 USD shipped. Saved me lots of dinero if you ask me... Thx again for posting this video!

Head gasket? You mean valve cover gasket? This video is a long way from pulling the head.

As brilliant as this video is, when it comes to bringing this together, that's where I'll fail. I wish my neighbour was a mechanic.

My god bmw don't do simple, now I see why the service is so expensive for my st model, service time warning just come on at 38,000 km, great video and proves to me that I am incapable of such mastery 👍👍

@Njordh0 You have to cancel the Haynes manual anyway, because the book is not available from Haynes yet. I think many F800 riders, like myself, are waiting for this book.

Lots of work for so little check, I will have dealer do it....but after that no check, lots of others doing same. I had it checked at 12K miles with no need to adjust and $200+ labor

Do you have a problem with vibration on the front end near the engine head? My vibrates at 3,500rpm and above. Is this normal for this bike? It is awful when riding at 80mph. The vibration on the handlebar and front is going to fall apart. Any idea?

Holy hell! That’s a lot of work to do before the job you need to do. But as far as I can tell, 90% of that work is due to the number of components that are in what would normally be regarded as being in the wrong place. And most those components that are in the wrong place are only there due to climate legislation. Wiring looms for instance have turned into London Tube maps - mainly due to the number of sensors required to make a bike comply with climate legislation. Anyway, thank you for sharing your service experience. Very instructive indeed. I’m sticking with my F650GS Dakar engine based CCM for now. It has the battery where batteries are meant to be 🧐😎😜
