    Another tip if you're not carrying enough speed, set AI to 110 in a practice session, fast forward so the track is up to temp, go out and find an AI and hold them up until say a third of the lap before the corner you want to learn, let them overtake and just watch them go through and compare speeds. Using the flashback camera to watch their lines. I never bothered with this for years but it was surprising when I did.

    Late braking was a huge problem for me. Took me awhile to figure it out sometimes I'll brake super early and still catch up to the car in front. Trail braking is also a must learn skill once you find that sweet spot. Remember always locking up the tyres at every single turn. First I learned how to brake in straight lines without any steering input then I learned how to feather the brake just enough to slow me down for the corner but not enough to lock up or overheat the brakes and tyres

    1. SETUP! Ppppplease? This is probably the area that contains the most Voodoo. Some settings can be fairly obvious, but others are incredibly anti-intuitive. Knowing what to change and when to change it to get the maximum benefit from your particular driving style is a #&$#@! 2. Car geometries and how they affect handling (height, width, wheelbase rake, aero, rear/front engine/drive, etc). Not all of us drive F1 exclusively. 😉 3. Perhaps a general overall discussion of what driving style is, and how to more readily adapt one's driving style to match cars, track, conditions, etc. Gotta say I LOVE your channel. Some of what you talk about I learned the hard way (road of hard knocks). You fill in the gaps and formalize what I had previously only believed. No matter how much I have gained, there's always soooo much more I can learn from a Pro like you.

    I see players who have amazing race craft, really good solid drivers overall but who are just slow for some reason. You can see they try and be fast but just can't compete. I think I remember I was at this stage myself. What really helped was the conscious realisation whilst driving that perhaps even though I'm nailing the corners technically with good braking, clean line, good exits, etc, perhaps regardless of all that I'm just simply not carrying enough speed through corners. Bit like the difference between Norris and Ricciardo this season. It's super hard to explain but once you start to recognise what actually is fast, break out of your auto pilot, you start to realise a lot of it is relative to your own perception of speed. Some times you need to "snap out of it" and hit a different frequency. Side note, this is why FOV and camera position is super important because it massively changes your perception of speed. The wider the FOV, the more you can perceive on screen, the slower things feel and so the "braver" you become. Things don't just "come at you". But too wide, details start to disappear and everything might feel "too far away". It depends on your eyes really. I got bad eyes so I had to find a balance. You'll always be at a disadvantage using cockpit cam in this game too but if you drive in real life, it's probably better for you because your brain is probably already wired to work in that perspective. It's more intuitive I find. Plus if you're like me, any other cam just isn't real racing imo, especially wheel to wheel racing. What I like to do is run practice sessions a lot and just remove that inner drive to just wanting to "win" for a little while. Instead of trying to get to my fastest pace straight away, I just lap as if I'm on an out lap or driving on the roads in real life. No particular speed, just playing around, no end objective, no pressure, just enjoying the car at all speeds, get a feel for everything, even express myself with the car for a bit lol, but not letting myself get carried away. Having the discipline to stay smooth and focused without letting my brain get excited or distracted by other cars and lap times and what not. I do this for a while until I'm feeling good and then I carry that same mindset throughout and practice specific corners that I know I'm not carrying enough speed though and by doing this, my minds in a good place to actually being able to test what is fast and what isn't. Once I worked this out it was a game changer. If you think about it, it's what you'd do in real life too.

    @@vich3359 Thanks! Yeah FOV is super important and massively disregarded by console players especially. I remember this one time, I think I was playing f1 2017 maybe. I was okay at the game but one day I got a new TV cabinet and sofa which probably pushed the TV back about 40cm in total. I remember playing F1 that day and I was SHIT lol. I couldn't drive and I was going mad because it didn't make sense how I just all of a sudden lost all my ability lmao. Now I know it was because I wasn't looking far enough ahead to anticipate corners, and actually, I couldn't physically see them but back then I had no idea. So I changed the FOV and all was fine but I didn't make the connection that I'm literally sat farther away lol. I repeated that same scenario quite a bit, my consistency all over the place, until I realised the whole time, the variable was myself and how close I was to the screen lol. Once I realised the power FOV has over your ability to see and therefore drive, it changed the game massively. This is why people with good vision will always have a massive advantage in racing.

    I mean he can and probably will, but you just asked to talk about setups pretty casually, when you are in fact asking someone to transfer you an immense amount of knowledge on extreme physics, in the length of a KZread video. It would need a library series of its own to really break it down for you, if you could even do it (The maths get insane for anyone). Probably best just copying setups to begin, read each definition the game gives you in the setup customization screen then try to learn more about those concepts in time. It’s not a cram subject. Watch a bunch of F1 too and listen to the commentators and teams and all that stuff talk about it. If you have F1TV they have some companion shows and behind the scenes stuff that also tends to go pretty in depth. Gonna have to chase the knowledge on this one.

    All of he’s saying applies, the main challenge is that you’re steering through a stick, and that ends up being filtered based on your speed. If you can, get extended thumb-sticks, I find that they’re helpful. Next what you want to learn is to focus cornering at the right speeds for the amount of grip you have, use the racing line as an aid to get the right idea. When you’re at the right cornering speeds you go through a corner with the steering thumb-stick pushed all the way over, moving it as quickly or slowly as necessary while also releasing the brakes, and then getting on the throttle and modulating that to adjust you line as necessary. This is not entirely unlike driving a real car on a track. Basically you want to minimize your hand/wheel inputs as much as possible as too much really upsets the car, only turning it only as much as is necessary and avoiding corrective inputs if at all possible, using the brakes and throttle to manipulate load between the front and rear tires to hold your line. An advantage you get with the gamepad is the vibration when braking or accelerating. In the F1 games I find that the trick is to push until you feel the slightest amount of vibration and keep it at just around that point.

    Is it just me or are tyre pressures reversed in this game? In Time Trial, where tyre temperatures are locked, if you minimise the pressure on the fronts and maximise it on the rears, you get understeer instead of oversteer.

  • @ccos1960

    @ccos1960

    2 жыл бұрын

    Don't forget -- tire pressure adds or subtracts from spring rate, too. The tire grips the track abrasively by sliding while underinflated, and by pushing down harder with overinflation. Or vice versa, ha, ha -- sometimes it can go the other way depending on conditions and all the other springs and aero. Ok - look at how unbalanced you are at 1 up front and 10 in back. The backs are sliding straight ahead, while the fronts are too mushy to pivot the car into the turn. If I chart my tire pressures and the resulting sector times in practice/time trial, I often find a plus 5 and a plus 7 front to back, and even reversed sometimes, gives me the grip level, spring rate and low or high rolling-resistance I'm looking for in certain conditions. In real life, all I have is tire pressure changes. I love an over-pressured front tire, making my street car suspension more stiff and responsive.

    Look at steering/breaking/throttle linearity, increase the figures so they are not linear so that centre sticks and initial throttle and braking isn't so sensitive, this will help in faster corners and smaller movement as well as better entry/exit in to corners as you can bring the power and braking on much more gradual

    Hey there! This is probably stemming from a variety of braking points for the same corner. Ie if every lap you brake somewhere different, even a little bit, it'll shift your turn in Pick a point, a curb or sign, and brake there all the time. Youll then find the consistency you're after RE Turn in! Hope it helps!

    Hello everyone, i heard that there was a problem in my team Career mode that when you upgrade the brakes the car becomes undrivable. Is that still in the game or is it fixed?

  • @renatatostada3318

    @renatatostada3318

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's still in. It's the last upgrade for the brakes in the chassis department. It's drivable, it's just a huge adjustment. To give you an idea, I typically use setups that use 100% brake pressure and 56-57% brake bias. I have no problem trail braking with large stamp on the brake to begin with (close to 100% pressure with my foot). But with that upgrade, I had to tone down brake pressure to 85% maximum and use anywhere between 50% and 52% brake bias just to not lock up on every corner. Oh yeah I was also trail braking using 25% of the pedal as the initial input. Thank goodness some reg changes happened in the chassis department for me because I was able to purposely drop the upgrade But yeah, the car is drivable if you can adjust to it, but yes it's still in the game.
