F-waves are a phenomenon we can record when performing motor studies and give us information about the axon all the way to it's Anterior Horn Cell

Hi Dr. I've watching your Video from first day. Thank you for your teaching. I am been a registered nerve conduction technologist quite a while, 10+ years. I have a question for F wave. Among of other parameters like latency, persistence, chronodispersion ....is AMPLITUDE of F-wave important? Thanks

Hi, a very interesting question and basically, it's not particularly utilised in routine clinical practice. There are a couple of papers regarding this in ALS but it's not really translated into something routine. There's much more interest in TMS related studies such as SICI looking for UMN dysfunction. How would you rate the new NEUBIE system for balancing the ANS?

Hadn’t heard of it, but an interesting topic to consider for the future “galvanism in the modern era”

What does a Mildly prolonged F wave mean? Please correct me if i am wrong. Does this mean that the electrical pulses that are being sent to the nerve aren't responding quickly enough?

Hi Deimian, yes that's roughly correct (technically a slowing of the electrical impulse somewhere along a nerve to its muscle) but what it represents depends on context and other findings which is a bigger subject than a comments section allows for. Bw Simon
