福岡堰は関東三大堰のひとつで，茨城観光100選・茨城百景にも選定されています。
春には約1.8ｋｍにも及ぶ堤に咲き誇る桜のトンネルが見事です。
さくらの開花時期に合わせて「福岡堰さくらまつり」が開催され，県内はもちろん、県外からも多くの花見客が訪れます。さくらまつり期間中の土・日曜日には、桜並木の中心部に特設ステージを設け、各種催し物や地元物産販売・模擬店等を行います。
桜並木が続く堤は、遊歩道や多目的広場が整備され、散策やつりを楽しむ人々の憩いの場となっています。

Fukuoka Weir is one of the three major weirs in the Kanto region, and has been selected as one of the top 100 sightseeing spots in Ibaraki and one of the 100 views of Ibaraki.
In spring, the tunnel of cherry blossoms in full bloom along the 1.8km embankment is spectacular.
The Fukuoka Weir Cherry Blossom Festival is held during the cherry blossom season, and many cherry blossom viewing visitors come from within the prefecture as well as from outside the prefecture. On Saturdays and Sundays during the Cherry Blossom Festival, a special stage will be set up in the center of the cherry blossom trees, and various events will be held, as well as local product sales and mock stalls.
The embankment is lined with cherry blossom trees, has promenades and a multipurpose plaza, and is a place of relaxation for people who enjoy strolling and fishing.
