I can’t say enough about the A-10 and the Pilots. This aircraft pulled my ass out of the fire on numerous occasions during my military career. There is no better sound hearing the A-10 clear its throat. I knew I was going to live another day and the bad guy weren’t.

The difference is the F35 wasn't literally designed around it's gun, one was just fitted to it. The A10 on the other hand was literally designed around the gun, like every aspect from it's wings to it's engines.

Yea the gun really isnt important for the f35s role. F35 will never been in a dogfight and need to use its gun. Will just shoot a missile over the horizon and obliterate the target before the target even knows theres an f35 in the air

Reason why is the bullets break the sound barrier, so they make contact before the BRRRRRRRRRT sound actually is heard, so yes, you would get vaporised before you heard the sound if you were the target.

@Louis Ng The F-35B also has the 25mm GAU-22A cannon. Also nowhere does Lockheed-Martin say A in F-35A is for attack, they are making 3 different F-35's so they are named the A, B & C models. There are certain things the F-35 just can't do like the A-10, the main one is loiter time, A-10 can stay over a combat area for around 90 minutes of loiter time without refueling while the F-35 only has about 20-30 minutes without a tanker available. However if the airspace is contested with enemy aircraft the F-35 has a serious advantage over the A-10.

1. The usaf doesn’t use GPU 5s, they used them for exactly 1 day during Desert Storm and decided they were shit. 2. If they did put GPU 5s on a F35 you would eliminate the stealth capability. 3. A10s have a 90m loiter while F35 only has 30m. 4. A10 pilots are CAS specialists, F35 pilots have to be air to mud, air to air and CAS. In the long run some training is going to get shorted and it won’t be air to air… 5. Did I mention A10s have successfully returned to base with a wing and a half? 6. How quick can you change the engines on a F35, oh and if your one engine on a F35 gets hit you have how many engines left?

@@stlpaulie my kid is an A-10 crew chief. I LOVE ❤️ ME SOME A-10! ...But even the best designs have their day. Even in Desert Storm the F-16 and F-111 were as effective at killing tanks. The A-10 can loiter...but so can a high flying F-16, F-35, Mud Hen, or bomber...and ALL with just as good of accuracy. You may have to vector in a fresh F-XX to the fight, but it can get there mighty damn fast...like "Crossing Texas in 30 Minutes fast". Meanwhile the 30mm isn't effective against modern MBTs, while APCs and Troop concentrations are all as vulnerable to 20 and 25mm fire as they are 30mm. Meanwhile the A-10 has been mostly relegated to fighting the same way everything else does.

@@velocity6415 speed of light? LMAO. If 30mm AP went the speed of light, it would instantly get vaporized because of the air resistance. If not counting air resistance, it would become a light speed missile that could probably destroy a state

​@@johnmorgan2481 i mean its not meant to, but it could. A10 is much more successful with missiles than its gun, and f35 can shoot the same missiles. The a10 really isnt as good as people make it out to be, especially against tanks. I absolutely love the plane but it is massively overhyped. There's a reason it was pulled out and reolaced by the f-111 aardvark in the gulfwar

Lol you a joke., F-35 is new and not deployed by the USAF/USN/USMC. F-35 has better sensors to avoid Friendly fire, Unlike A-10.

Ah yes, clearly an aircraft going supersonic isn’t enough to scare combatants with no air-support, right? NO, combatants from the Middle-East always runs away the moment they hear an aircraft above them. It’s such an amazing feat for the A-10 to always have the propaganda machine when it can only do jack-shit in COIN operations & ground support.

@@asteve6537 :A-10 gun is for Anti-Armor targets (T-64 and older/lighter ) A-10 Gun is too inaccurate for Close air Support. (Look up friendly fire incidents for the A-10)

The F-16 doesn't have dual Twentys. It has a single M61 Vulcan. That said, anything can carry a 30mm G-pod like the GAU-5a.
