Eye of the Storm // Photographing a Supercell
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In the spring.. its typical to get lightning storms here in Washington State, but a Supercell is not something we typically get. I knew there was a storm rolling in, but what actually arrived I was not prepared for.

Epic, just epic. I'm loving the recent video style. Nice and chill 😎
Storms over the Palouse region. Sweet!
Awesome, Nick. Thanks for getting out there in the storm risking your life for ultimate shots, that's what real photographers do...
The storm spotter in me is geeking out right now! It's very rare for us to find an open enough area to get such a good shot of a supercell, down here in the south. The ones in this video were so photogenic!
Nick Page the Storm Chaser! :O Woooooooooow! That supercell! Those downdrafts kicking up all that dirt ... that was my favorite in this batch. :) Awesome.
Watching this video literally gave me chills. It's what I wanted to do my whole life. Thank you so much for posting this.
Top drawer as always Nick 👍🏻👍🏻 and a couple of stunning images too 👏👏
I'm from central Washington State and miss the wide open land storms that come through in the spring and summer months. Watching this video, I could almost smell that ionized wet dirt smell that those storms produce. I currently live in Switzerland, and while we have big storms, you don't have an opportunity to watch them come in from a long distance away. They just kind of suddenly form when they smash into the hills and mountains.
Wow Nick, you were in the right place at the right time. You are correct in saying it was a mesocyclone, as in severe thunderstorm that's capable of producing a tornado. Glad you stayed safe! I'm a weather observer in Seattle and would love to have been there. So very thankful for you sharing your experience.
Nick...it was like watching a blockbuster movie. You must be be so pleased with those images. The one of the cell with the lighting bolt on the right is one of the best images I have ever seen! Brilliant! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Last Saturday I ventured down from Omak to Moses Lake along hwy 17... encountered some great Thunderstorms and later atop of Steptoe Butte.... Palouse Falls was awesome.... THANKS FOR YOUR PASSIONATE CREATIVITY.... IT’S APPRECIATED!!!
Agree with other comments, that hand held pano is as epic as it gets. How could you not subscribe after seeing that?
Lightning means Hail. It’s the ice in motion that helps create lightning. This also means very high cloud top with a lot of convection. The most dangerous area of a Mezo Cell is the Southeastern corner. You did some awesome work there.
It’s amazing how calm it seems.
Glad you had the option of refuge in the car. Got caught in a lightning storm once, not fun at all (but exciting afterwards)! Some incredible photographs you got before it arrived. Very atmospheric as you said. Great job Nick 👍
The Nick page Chronicles: Beyond photography! Amazing stuff. Looked like fun!
I really wish to see one of those storms one day. (we don't have them over here in The Netherlands) but they truly show the force of nature.
Nothing like the right place at the right time !!
I just fell of my chair when I saw your photos!!! Incredible!
Just unreal the effort that goes into this, and still nails supurb images. Keep em comming Nick 👍

I appreciate that Wayne.. it wasn't an easy one to film thats for sure.. it got pretty sloppy towards the end haha
I am amazed at the effort you put into producing today’s video. First off, stellar shots from beginning to end, both video and still. Most do not recognize the time it takes to set up a shot that will only last a few seconds. Visualizing these shots is not easy but the pay-off was amazing. First rate, Nick.
Wild, surreal shots. Loved the deep green of the fields with that insane cloudmass above. Glad you weren't the shortest path to ground too.
I saw one of those directly over my head at work once, their were layers of clouds spiraling the opposite direction of each other, amazing and scary at the same time.
Wow, a perfect storm, so to speak - what a combination of weather and talent. Amazing shots and video.
Wow! All three images are incredible, and picking a favorite would be impossible for me.
This is sooo great! Mood of the storm hunting, amazing shots... You hit my sensitive string, Great Job Nick!
Nick...just one word: WOW!! Thanks.
Wow! That's it..... just Wow!
You've nailed it Nick! Awesome dramatic skies and I love the way you've enhanced the mood in your processing.
Absolutely WOW!
Those were some spectacular time lapse and stills of that storm cell. Nicely done and beautiful. Imagine how much energy is stored in those storm cells, incredible.
WOW!! I live in Richland WA and it amazes me how much weather like this we see here now. We have had at least 2 small tornadoes here just this year. Awesome pics Nick... Guess I need to do a road trip in my local area more often.
Minds will still be blown 100 years from now when they see these photos. Speechless.
...super cell, super Nick, super pics, super video!!!
The time lapse shots were amazing. The time lapse makes them see like a living intity crawling along a floor. Amazing
Have enjoyed so many of your videos and photos, but this I think is my favorite. Outstanding preparation and both the time lapse and photos are great! Thanks.
Hi Nick. LOVE the image with the lightning towards the end. Very cool! Great video

Amazing shot of the old house. I was out in those storms on the John Day River that day. Amazing force to be reckoned with.
That first shot was absolutely glorious. I am not a jealous man but I kinda feel a little that wasn't me taking that photo.
Was looking forward to seeing this vlog after seeing the images on FB. Fantastic storm time lapse footage. Luckily captured lighting on a great shot. Should make a good large print. Glad you got home safe. Thanks for sharing again Nick
Wow, just wow! Unbelievable storm chasing and the drama in those shots is awesome. Thanks for taking us out with you man, stay safe Nick!

Oh man oh man. Nature at its most powerful. Just amazing that you captured this so perfectly! Thanks for putting this out there for us peeps who also got caught in this storm (Central Oregon for me). Crazy Freaking scary!
Those shots are FANTASTIC Nick. They, for me, surpass your mega wave photo 😎
What a great video to wake to with my morning coffee. Nick, your processing is always 1st class 👍
I wached this last night. This was so good. The images and the excitement was awesome. I've never seen more dramatic clouds in my life.
I was so lucky to stumble across your channel. What a truly lovely experience it was, and so enlightening and educational. I cannot thank you enough, thank you again.
Wonderful video !!! I love the still shot, with the lightning bolt on the right side, and the meso in the middle.
Wow Nick! Absolutely spectacular!
As an Irish man who has only ever seen terrible, crap, boring weather. This blows my mind. I don't even know what the storm cell is. Is this a kind of tornado? Unbelievable video dude
just WOW!

Meteorlogical magic, Nick! Beautiful shots!
Those are some fantastic images, and without losing the windshield of the truck to hail, great job.
So freakin jelouse.... love the shots you took of the supercell above the old barn. Over here in The Netherlands storms like these are rare, most of the time only rollclouds. But would love to get back to the US and to get some of these awesome pictures like you do. Thanks for sharing. 🙏
Outstanding!
Awesome images and fantastic time lapse. One of the most beautiful photos I have seen on KZread. Thanks Nick. I need to get out and shake off the lockdown blues.

That was a cool storm we had. The morning storm in Tri-Cities was awesome. Crazy colors. Of course I didn’t have my camera out and was barely awake. The evening one didn’t pan out over here, but it looks like it was amazing over there in your area. Awesome shots!
Brilliant Nick, stunning video and images, thanks for sharing.
Such an amazing display of nature that you've captured so beautifully!
Had to watch this video again, after watching your 2020 year-end video. Amazing! One of my faves.
