Under an Epic Sky // Storm Chasing in the Central Plains
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Not all storms are created Equal. I have photographed a lot of storms in my corner of the world, but the storms of the central plains are nothing at al like what have experienced before. This is a bit of a frantic mess of a video, but I attempt to take you along with me as I chase some of the scariest storms I have ever witnessed over two crazy days in Nebraska and Kansas.

I was thrilled to get the notification of a new Nick Page video, and the video did not disappoint. Storm footage captures both drama and power in a single image. Impressive images and time-lapse photography. Be safe out there.
What else can I say Nick, you are a BAD ASS! Wonderful art you have given us yet again, thank you so much!
Finally he's back! Well done, Nick!
Holy shit a mind-blowing collection! I WANNA DO THIS TOO! :D

…and I‘m sure you‘d have managed a lot of equally epic shots as well! Although…not so many tornados around Denmark 😉

I've lived in north Texas all of my 60 years. What you see is what we learn to hide from. They're on the south side, so they're OK... but something new could form at any time at their southwest. This is "racecar driver" dangerous. Storms in the south plains don't play.

@@kennygo8300 Well, Mother nature is not forgiving. I guess it's a different side of the coin if you are aware of what might happen. Thanks for fair warning :-)

@@kennygo8300 yeah, things can go from "ohh pretty" to "oh shit" in seconds. Thats why I was tagging along with experienced Weather trackers and forecasters because I was out of my area of expertise.
The best part of this video, other than the meadowlark singing, is your description of how it is to hunt for images in a challenging location, where there is no waterfall or sea stack or ready-made foreground. And something begins to happen in your mind where start seeing the beauty in a minimal composition with excellent light, and you feel so good and the artistic juices really get going! Nick, you are incredibly generous to share these visions, and photographic lessons. Thank you so much.
Finally Your back. Van conversions/life and book plugging content free. Your storm videos are a breath of fresh air! 😊
Awesome video Nick! I'm so happy to hear you say that you are feeling excited about photography again. I went through a huge slump last year myself. On a side note in regards to your recent post about whether or not your videos matter. I found your channel about 4 years ago. At that point in my life, I was sinking fast into anxiety and depression worse than ever before in my life. You and your videos reinvigorated me to get off the couch, go outside, take pictures and in doing so gave me the desire and strength to seek treatment. You make a difference. I'm living proof of that. Thank you for everything you do.
@Nick NO WORDS JUST GOOSEBUMPS watching the end of the video.
I LOVE when I get my coffee and see there is a new Nick Page video!! Amazing photography at the end! Thanks man!!
Damn Nick! Great to have you back posting videos again! This one is definitely one of your best! The sun burst WITH A LIGHTNING STRIKE??? AMAZING!
Great to see you back Nick. Images simply breathtaking.
You might not have realized this, but at 6:30, you were standing in the middle of the storm's inflow. Those rapid, straight line winds were what was feeding the storm. You were also looking at a massive hail shaft, not rain. That green glow from the storm indicates a large hail core, which is to be expected from that strong of an inflow. The storm was literally sucking the air up like a vacuum! These storms were beautiful, but not nearly as good as your pictures! I love your storm videos. In fact, my love for photographing storms actually motivated me to become a certified Storm Spotter a few years ago, so I now chase for the purpose of photography. I live in "Dixie Alley", so we have a lot of tornados, but the view is always obstructed by trees and mountains.
So glad to see you back Nick, really love to see your enthusiasm for storm photography. Awesome images and spectacular timelapses. Really enjoyed it pal 👍
Wow! Just wow. That image of the sunrise and lightning, simply awesome.
Yesssss The BIG Man is back.. and the Heavens approve.
Storms on the Great Plains seldom disappoint. Thanks for sharing, Nick.
This is pure craftsmanship! Really enjoyed this video 👍
See ?? This is you. Grand stuff, huge storms, mesmerising music, leave all the girl stuff for the Baxter’s, Heatons of this world. This stuff, the edge photography is you. Excellent, excellent video. Man I wished an American girl loved me, so I can move over there. What a paradise for photography.
Oooooh we missed you Sir Nick 😁. Really, a man's gotta make a living and support the family, hope you had a fruitful Spring. Keep the faith, Squatch will show himself some day.
Wow Nick! Well done. The time lapse sequences tell a whole different story about nature unleashed. And, as always, the still images (and your patented editing) are glorious! Thanks for sharing!! Oh, and speaking of waterfalls, I just spent the day shooting falls around Ithaca NY. Gotta come back!! Gerry
Ohhhhhh how I’ve missed your videos. This one was amazing Nick! I loved the music while you were showing your photos. 🤙
Wow! So incredibly beautiful! The majesty of His power is real and you captured it perfectly! Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world.
WHATTTTTTT is that photo.. sunset with lightning and the video is just starting!!
This motivates me so much to go out again and photograph. I've been in a creative rut for the past year and I'm living the dream of living in switzerland but I couldn't get myself out of the house. Your videos really change that. Thank you :)
That was absolutely breath-taking.. Made myself a cup of coffee to drink while watching this vide, watch the video twice and coffee has gone cold......
Such amazing light!
As much as I love the clear dark “Milky Way” skies that we have here in Idaho, I do miss the intense dramatic storms I experienced growing up in the south. Incredible images, Nick. So cool!
I'm glad that you finally were able to take in the beautiful stormy intensity of a good high plains storm. Your story of the trip brought back so many memories of when I lived in Kansas. These storms need respect - as they develop fast, turn on a dime, and have become more intense over the years. I loved the photos ...and I hope you keep sharing these beautiful images while enjoying the adventure.
"Reinvigorated", is the word you were after, Nick. And yeah, it reinvigorated *me* , too. I want a go, now. What a way to cram a hard drive full. Excellent images, mate.
Mr. Page is back with an epic video. Thank you for sharing these jaw-dropping images. They took my breath away.
Worth. The. Wait. What an epic storm chase. Your series of images from this excursion are positively mind blowing. Top shelf stuff, for sure.
Can't say anything other than "FREAKING AWSOME". Lived through Hurricane Camille in August 1969, but we didn't have lightening like that. Didn't have electricity for 7 days, and Mississippi is hot & humid as hell in August. Thanks for sharing!!
Nothing more powerful than nature. This is amazing.
The music and the videos are a perfect match here. The US plains are wide open and the sky is very large the drama very real. Good work.
Missed you, but glad you made time to recharge and reconnect with your passion for photography. The storms looked frantic, so it makes sense that your video brought that feeling forward. Great job as always Nick!
These skies, this light... just epic!
WOW, WOW, WOW. The images at 11:40, 12:45, and 13:14 are my favorites because of the strong foregrounds combined with epic skies. Again, WOW.
You can’t find better drama than that! Simply incredible! Just wow!
Also you should do a book called 'Chasing Storms with Nick Page'.
Absolutely EPIC time lapse and photos of the power of nature. So well done!
He's back, not with a bang, more of an explosion! You've been missed Nick.
Beautiful shots. Just breathe taking. Excellant work Nick. The colors are truly vivid.
That was awesome! You don't get weather that severe here in Denver but once you head an hour east where it flattens out going into Kansas, it's the wild, wild west of weather. Good to see you back and that sky, yes, it was epic. Time lapses were so beautiful. Well done!
Nick...., no matter the subject matter your shooting, you always bring the photo to life!! Not only are the still shots "Nick Amazing", but the time lapses are "Nick Incredible".... And, you look so Exhilarated! Great Shots and Great Video Sir!!!!
I love those "storm chacing" videos and photos..we need more. Great job
Can never have enough watching your videos!!!! Absolutely terrific 🙌🙌🙌
Excellent videography and photography. The house silhouetted against the sky at 12:48 is very evocative. Thanks.

Gretchen Goes to Nebraska! Love these stormy timelapses
Outstanding final image. One on a million chance of getting that lightning strike in that sunset composition.
Stunning videos and imagery. Beautiful powerful and scary skies. Well done Nick
Oh my! Well, that was worth waiting for you to get back on the channel Nick! Raw, real, artistic, emotional and well-produced. I bet you are still riding high on those shots!! I know I'm still smiling having seen them through your eyes!
Enjoyed that Nick! we rarely get storms on the coast here so it was great to see another realm of photography, looks addictive.
Absolutely gorgeous. I love watching your storm chasing videos/photography. Missed you posting as well.
Right place, right time, right skills. Superb!
I’m so glad to see you back! I’ve really missed your videos.
Nick, I can feel your exhilaration from this shoot. Incredible!
Haha I knew you would get the bug for chasing! It's a blast. It only gets better too.
Simply some of THE best big weather images I have ever seen. Would give my right arm to be able to come to the states to capture shots like these! Fabulous!!
Yaaaas! Loved it and great to hear you're reinvigorated 😃 the music, the time-lapses and images were just all perfect
Oh Nick, my man. I can't tell you how happy I am you made it out to chase on the plains. I hope you thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope you decide to come back out again soon!
Lovely. Thanks for bringing us along with you. Wish I can someday be a part of such an adventure. Photography with Nick, Storm chasing, enjoying the gorgous environment - having a cold beer at the end of the day. Cheers,
Great to see you back Nick. I must say, the time-lapse photography and stills in this vlog are UNBELIEVABLE!!! Truly epic stuff. Best 13 or so mins of my day and I've had a great day. 👍
I have to second on chasing storms is better than photographing waterfalls. Amazing photography and video production. Stay safe out there on the road.
Nick, Stunning photographs and time-lapses. Thank you for sharing.
I do think it's impossible to put in words the beauty you shared with us in this video. Spectacular?! Not enough, sure. Phenomenal?! A little bit closer. I can just say thank you so much, Nick!

Wow incredible. A storm chase/storm photography is a dream of mine. One day I really hope the opportunity arises for me to experience this.
Unreal Nick!! So worth the wait! If you ever do a workshop of this sort, I'd sign up in a heartbeat!
I really loved the music you picked for these dramatic shots. It emphesized the feeling a lot. I also enjoyed the timelapses.

Welcome to the Great Plains. Glad the skies put on some shows for you.
Gosh I've missed you. I'm happy you got to enjoy it again and do it for you and not just for us. And may I say your choices in accompanying music take you to the next level. Well done sir, well done...

Absolutely a stunning piece of work Nick! Especially the end sequences. Compliments!
Nick it is even more exting to watch this. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. Hope you will get your mojo back again 🥰❤️
What can I add to what has already been said Nick? Wonderful images. Today in the county of Herefordshire UK, we had a thunderstorm. Well actually it was a downpour of rain for 10 minutes with 4 claps of thunder thrown in. You really are lucky to be able to photograph the raw power and beauty of nature. 😊
So, so awesome, Nick. I’m glad that you ventured away from home to try something new and exciting!
Amazing video Nick! It was worth the wait. Masterful photography and time lapses. Thank you!
Thankfully you are back🙏🙏🙏 Awesome pictures and impressions. Stay save and well😎🍻

Nice to see you Nick! 📸
Great video, Nick, with spectacular imagery. Nice to see you getting get exited about photography again too! We all lose our mojo every now and again and it can be tough to get back! My favorite of the bunch here is the one of the lightning, tree, and stream leading into the image.
Nick! Im so glad you're back. I hope you had some good time to reset my friend. I took my very first long exposure storm photos tonight in SW Missouri. Im hooked, you taught me well Sir! Thank you.
Good to see you back👍
Awesome work NP!! The best thing about that one is your renewed enthusiasm and to see that renews my enthusiasm as well. If we get any storms here Ill definitely try to see what I can get. I love storms and being in that moment rely gets you charged up. Great job!!!
