Haven't watched the entire video yet, but I'm stoked to hopefully see my favorite SAO Game character in the main canon

I was happy when Argo came back after so long. I'd be really excited to see Mito and Edith as well in the novels and see how the story will play out with their introductions in the novels. I noticed that Reki did canonize content from Ordinal Scale in the past volumes of Unital Ring. Really interested to see how Reki plans to add content from Progressive into the novels. I have this feeling that Reki may just add more characters into Unital Ring. Though only time will tell how the story progresses with this additions.

The content from Progressive is already in Unital Ring, it was also back in Alicization. The difference is the Progressive movies, which were original takes on the story. And we'll need to have Reki draw a line as to which version is canon.

Well I can't wait to hear about these new characters and the re-introduction of Edith in the main cannon.

I dont dislike Mito, its a great char but idk if i want her into canon free from movies, but Edith yes, she have to come 🛐

I honestly wouldn't mind it. She's one of the best video games exclusive characters in my opinion, and I just always loved the concept of Integrity Knights. If it was me, there would be a design for every one of them.

Sadly, would not make much sense. Koharu is only meaningful with the Protagonist around. Randomly adding Koharu does not really mean anything.

It'll be great to see her in Unital Ring anime in in the future now that she's canon in the novels. What if Kirito meets his copy self in Unital Ring?

Airy didn't say that the Ancient Knights sleeping in the Senate were frozen by Quinella. For all we know, this could be Kirito's doing. Unleash Blading clearly established that Edith wanted to see Alice's return, so as decades passed in the Maximum Acceleration Phase, she would certainly volunteer to go into Deep Freeze. The trouble could simply be that because they're so much older than Ronie and Tiese or even Renly, they are much closer to the limits of their memory.

Of course Airy didn't say it. It's information that predates all the way back to War of Underworld where Airy was not even present in, and then a little more in Moon Cradle. The only ones woken up were Renly and Scheta, while Nergius and Entokia were on duty patrolling End Mountains. The rest were simply in Deep Freeze without being able to be woken up at that point, indicating they were indeed put to sleep by Quinella. Whether Kirito was ever able to wake them up or not is irrelevant for the arguments here, as that would not give Edith any chance to interact with Alice anyways.

There are actually no 29 knights at the Central Cathedral. We have deceased ones, and also ones that have been added after War of Underworld. As a list of the deceased and unavailable: Bercouli Synthesis One (deceased) Three (Missing, presumed dead) Six (Missing, presumed dead) Eight (Missing, presumed dead) Eleven (Missing, presumed dead) Scheta Synthesis Twelve (Frozen at Obsidia Palace) Dakira Synthesis Twenty-two (Died in War of Underworld) Eldrie Synthesis Thirty-one (Died in War of Underworld) On the flipside, we have all the unmentioned ones above as available with known locations (although not clarified whether they are all in the Cathedral), on top of: Tiese Thirty-two Ronye Thirty-three however, both of which have rushed to the Space Force Base to help there.

Would have helped if Philia was not just shoehorned in with bad character writing since after Hollow Fragment on a constant basis.

I don't have a reason to have an issue with her per se. Now, if they expect you to know all the background, that would be a problem. That's when I could really use that story in book form, since actually playing the games myself is kind of out. And if this stuff is rather spread around, then trying to track down all the relevant playthrough videos would also present some problems.

I'm just not automatically assuming that they won't somehow try to make the background apparently relevant. That's all. And we do have the backstory for the Storm Sprout Spear.

what about sanya and koharu i saw them both in the sword art online movie there is no way the creators of sao would put them there on purpose or by coincidence I'm asking one question are those two cannon or not

My theory is that game-original characters are simply SAO players that Kirito never met in canon. After all, we only see a handful of the thousands of players, both victims and survivors.

Most likely. At least unlike Argo's case where Reki accidentally uncanonized Girls Ops entirely, Unleash Blading was non-canon in the first place ^^'

@@alejandroguerra6755 SAO is not a Manga series, it's a Light Novel series. You simply follow the numbers of the releases, either for Main Series or Progressive depending on your preference.
