EXTREME ABORTED LANDING! London Heathrow Airport *TOUCH & GO + CROSSWIND!* Swiss Intl Airlines A321

You can show your support to me & my channel by donating to my PayPal. 2020 has been an incredibly tough year. Everything costs money from buying tickets to go out & film these videos, staying in hotels, petrol to drive to places right down to editing software, camera equipment, laptop and of course repairs for them all when things go wrong. Right down to parking at airports & train stations and even down to buying myself food & drink while I'm out. It all costs money. It is of course completely voluntary & I thank any donations in advance and hope you continue to enjoy my videos. The link is below if you'd like to show your support. Any donation is much appreciated.

NEW VIDEO ON A SWISS A330 BUSINESS CLASS TO HEATHROW: • Swiss Airbus A330-343 ...

CHECK OUT THE FULL FLIGHT VIDEO HERE: • Swiss Air Airbus A321-...
Including the Take Off from Zurich, the entire Turbulent approach and the successful second landing...
One of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in aviation. Arriving at London Heathrow Airport (RWY27L) during #StormImogen Over 60mph winds battering southern England clearly took its toll on my flight. This was Swiss Air Airbus A321 (HB-IOK) flight LX332 from Zurich, was scheduled to arrive at 13:00 but due to ATC restrictions in the extreme weather was delayed by just short of 2 hours. If I said I wasn't hoping for the flight to make an aborted landing I'd be lying because it is exciting. However I wasn't quite expecting to be thrown violently left & right just above the runway, before slamming down, bouncing and then climbing away again. Got a bit more than I bargained for, was absolutely terrifying for everyone onboard. The captain did announce that the Missed Approach was due to a "sudden gust of wind". Must take my hat off to them both in the flight deck for displaying some incredible skill and their fantastic quick reactions at getting the plane back off the ground & into safety immediately.
We did then circle for a few minutes and re-entered the approach and landed safely the second time around without further incident.
I wasn't even booked onto this flight. Was due to fly to London City but that flight was cancelled because of the storm and I was rebooked onto this one.
Check out the full flight video coming soon including more footage from this flight, including the successful landing & take off from Zurich!

Engines are designed to go from stabilized approach idle to full throttle in under 9 seconds. Many do it in less time. If it does not meet the 9 second requirement it does not get put on a plane.

Actually i think the pilot already decided to go around before the aircraft touch down, thats why after touch, the engine immediately spooling up, jet engine has delay when spooling up from idle to full thrust, it needs some time

I totally agree with you on that one. I spend countless hours on flight simulators, watching KZread videos, watching flight trackers and everything else like that. I want to be an airline pilot when I'm older. Whenever I go on a flight, I always smile to myself, wondering what the view look like out of the cockpit. The job pilot/co-pilots do is amazing. One of the best. They deserve to be acknowledged more.

This happened to me a month ago then I was flying from Houston Tx to Dubai UAE. We were literally meters from the ground when the engines started getting louder and louder and you could feel the plane taking off again and going higher and higher into the air. I remember looking at our altitude and seeing it raise. I was so confused and a little scared, the pilot then said that there was something in our way on the runway so we circled the Dubai sky for about 5 minutes before getting the all clear to land.

This was.a loss of lift event on one wing just at touchdown. Pilot engaged TOGA immediately and executed the go around. Exactly what the pilot should have done. Scary for the passengers? Yep. Scary for the pilot? Yep. The good news is that they are drilled over and over and over again as to what to do in that situation so the reaction is almost automatic. Nice job SWISS!

That hard an impact with the wind component would have caused the aircraft to "bounce" airborne. The correct course of action is to firewall the throttles and climb away with as much power as possible. If you attempt to continue the landing what can happen is what happened to the FedEx MD11 at Narita Airport. It hit hard the first time and bounced. The pilots attempted to save the landing and bounced hard again. By this time, they had lost enough airspeed that the late application of power was too little too late. The aircraft stalled, bounced a third time, rolled over and crashed on the runway. The safest course of action in a wind shear induced hard landing is to go around and attempt it again...or divert.

Hi David, the pilot rammed the throttles and gave her everything she had! "Screw the protocol!" He screamed! "I don't care if it's bad for the engines, we have to get this tin goose back in the air!" So, the engines screamed in agony as they desperately tried to propel the mechanical bird back into the sky. They all lived happily ever after, The End.

I love how calm and quick that flight attendant was. He must have realised a go-around was coming given how they were being thrown around in the approach. He picked up that phone and made his announcement literally just seconds after the engines spooled up into the go around and he sounded so unalarmed and nonchalant, despite the fact that must have counted amongst the roughest landings in his career.

I was on an aircraft once that done a touch and go at Glasgow because of an “obstruction on the runway”. I had just explained to my mate that hates flying, that it’s very rare and that because it was a sunny and wind free day, we should have a smooth landing. He was crapping himself, I was loving the huge burst of thrust and the steeply banked tour of Glasgow City Centre to regain the approach path. Apparently it was caused by a runway incursion by another aircraft, according to the pilot anyway. Someone will be getting a talking to.

At 2:47, the baby jet parked at the gate has a main wing span which is virtually the same size as the empennage of the A380, which is parked next to it. Incredible to see the size comparison from above. Other than that, Matt this is a cool video!

There's a delay from throttle input until engine spool-up. The pilot had already slammed full power as it started to sink and it didn't kick in until the hit. Good instincts.

I was on an American 777-300 when we had a similar thing happen but we never touched then throttled up like that. We just aborted close to the runway and went back up. Also we never had the constant adding power and backing off with the engines. But I can see he had to do it that way. Great Video! Glad you all made it safety.
