I realize this is unrelated, however, I am having a good deal of trouble with my aunt. She is 88, lost her husband two years ago, and is a narcissist. I have a lot of trouble dealing with the nice/mean, gaslighting, etc. I am not used to being treated so poorly when trying to be helpful to her. I make an innocent comment, and somehow it gets twisted into a ten minute tirade. It's very toxic there. I threatened to leave, she tried to block me from leaving, tried to get my keys, etc. I finally got to leave, after being threatened with, " it's all your fault if I hurt myself..." I am at a loss here.

Is there a difference between the self defense and counter attack technique?

Hi Preetika, Thank you for your thoughtful question. The Self Defense and the Counter Attack technique can sound pretty similar. The key difference is that Self Defense is providing evidence against why the negative is wrong. With the Counter Attack, you are fighting back against the negative thought as if your negative thought is a bully and you are telling them to stop.
