    I had one of these put in 2013. I had a Hydrocephalus due to a colloid cyst between the 4th & 3rd Ventricle, that shifted my Greater Sulcus 10 mm to the right, and down crushing my pituitary glad and optic Chiasm. I have visual field loss and have Hypopituitarism. 4 med cycles, which include 4 insulin injections. Very sick. Yet I was given a chance to get closer to the Lord. I feel like I have fluid build Up in my head like sinus won’t drain and I can’t take antibiotics as they harmed my heart and made me go into a seizure. I’m constantly pushing on my head sinus areas and they never drain. Is this something I need done or a different procedure.

  • @CatMan_7

    @CatMan_7

    3 жыл бұрын

    First off, no. The sinuses are more anterior or farther forward. Secondly, have you tried decongestants, Benadryl or the like, with ample amounts of drinking water. Maybe a Nettie pot or Navage would help. It could flush out and break open those tiny drains in your face. Maybe first, warm your face with a warming pad. Did you ever have significant facial trauma?

    Could you elaborate on the regular CSF mechanisms of reabsorption? I had a retro-sigmoid surgery for removal of giant (51x40x30mm) vestibular schwannoma, which had caused also a hydrocephalus because if nothing else it had flattened the 4th ventricle and as I understand it blocked the circulation and reabsorption of CSF. about 6 weeks ago I had my now regular MRI to check for tumor's remainder growth, and the condition of the ventricles. And while the tumor remainder was ok - not growing so far, the 2 lateral ventricles were inflated (mostly in width) with about 5mm, and the 3rd ventricle with ~1mm. I understand that I'll need a ventricular shunt (the permanent one that drips in my belly), but I wonder what the blockage is, as I was told by the doctor that 4th ventricle is no longer flattened, and had restored its normal size (but perhaps not its function?) ... also in previous MRI images I saw that the whole area of where the tumor was, and the surgical approach were filled with I assume mix of CSF and some blood perhaps ... so I wonder if some of that can contribute to the blockage of reabsorption of CSF.

    My mom just had shunt surgery and it draines into her stomach. She is doing terrible, and she vomited bile/gall. After this the doctors eventually told my dad, that my mom's stomach was too tense once they started the surgery and did a CT to see if she has cancer. A friend of the family who is also a surgen (not a neurological one) said that it stinks, bcoz my mom's stomach shouldn't have been tense if she haven't eaten, and worries, that she got a stomach outerlayer infection/inflamation (forgive my way of expressing myself, but English isn't my first language, and I'm not even sure what I wanna say in my own motgertongue). To sum it all up, and why I'm writing this comment is to ask, if this shunt surgery could have caused my mom's nauseas and all that, or what could be going on with her? If just draining the fluid first, why did they start by inserting a shunt? (She has a non-cancerous tumor, which is 2-3 cms tall, that they want to cure by radiation in the next year). I just feel terribly sorry for my mom, beacuse I know she really must be suffering as she looks after us even when she herself is ill. I don't know how could I help her.
