Hopefully he doesn't go play in France

He actually didn't play that well in this game. He was probably more used to playing 10 at this point from Crusaders game time.
Aaron smith has changed the pace 💯
The attacking springboks,, of 2004 we're so exciting i never seen them run the ball like this... amazing attacking
....And that's why there's now yellow cards for repeated professional fouls when an attacking team is in the 22. Thanks South Africa, another development in the game brought about through the way they play.

Agree with that plus all the high tackles. I DO miss the rucking of offside players though - once it’s not around the head or neck it definitely keeps you from killing the ball!

You’re a fool 😂
This was the first game where a team employed a "rush defence". The Springboks didn't obviously get it right in this game as the referee kept penalizing them, but over the years they have perfected it and still trouble the All Blacks with it to this day. Other teams adopted the rush defence tactic to great effect over the years.

Yes, but eventually over time teams actually stopped doing it because with the emergence of good kicking flyhalfs it made teams stand back. SA stopped using rush D by 2009 already. SA only started using the rush again when Rassie came back.
What a great test match allblacks never say die
Unbelievable defence and unbelievable resilience from the ABs. Reminds me the heartbreak they inflicted on Ireland a few times in the 2010s
Epic, remember it well.
I love allblacks sports
Phew! Those words by Tana
Epic.
If that game was played today the springboks would have at least one yellow for repeat infigments he got them for offside 5 or 6 times which is just I'll diaplin. You never see a team being that bad nowdays

Let off by some bad calls too
One of the All Blacks worst seasons. They finished the Tri Nations bottom place, it was Graham Henry's first year as coach and people were wanting him to be replaced by Robbie Deans. Kinda like how people want Ian Foster to be replaced with Scott Robertson now. Things started to come right for NZ when they dropped Spencer, Marshall and some other old players for the end of year tour and started using Carter at 10 Umaga and Nonu as second fives instead of centre's.

Yea, similar to 2009. The losses made the coaches start to pick players in form and new tactics, which then resulted in better performance.
Heart break.
I think the position that has improved the most for the modern game in 2021 has to be halfback.

10:26 How's Percy Montgomery, flattens Keven Mealamu here like he was a piddling little halfback.

Fark me marshall was horrible at clearing the ball.

In his defense those bok players at the break down were off side by a couple miles
A lucky victory. Boks were the better team on the day, but their terrible discipline let them down.

How was that lucky, Springboks were offside countless times.

@@mat.1127 Indeed they were, and they deserved at least one yellow card for that repeated infringing. But still, they legitimately earned those 3 tries through some scintillating running. Something perhaps a bit lacking from their style of play in recent times.

@@wilsargisson3626 Not really scintillating running. Closer to the modern Boks infact, capitalizing off AB errors. Only the 3rd try you could really say was 100% worked by them.
What a shitty AB performance. Marshall, dead slow clearing the ball again!

They were mostly all of them having a bad day very lucky to win if l was a springbok fan l would have been very very disappointed at losing it
If this vid reminds me of anything it's how overrated Justin Marshall was as a halfback. His pass was seriously shocking.
