Biden has proven that he knows how to get legislation across the finish line and get it signed. Infrastructure, veterans healthcare, pharmacy price control, chips manufacturing, etc. Reproductive healthcare needs to be protected by federal legislation so that it is not vulnerable to extreme state legislators or the slanted SCOTUS that destroyed Roe. I find myself wishing that ERA had worked, because getting an amendment into the Constitution seems like another important way to avoid an overreaching SCOTUS.

@jessicamcneil96 - Other commenters are correct. Insurance companies have employees whose *ONLY* job is to find ways to deny claims. Keep all your documentation, *NEVER* give them an original document, only a copy. Keep the names of *ALL* people you've spoken with, including dates & times. You should also keep a chronology of everything you have done regarding your claim, stating particular details of conversations. Always keep a hard-copy of your documents, even if you are saving documents to the Cloud. You may also want to talk to an ombudsman in your state, and remember that you can also contact your state's Department of Banking and Insurance. Be aware that the insurance company may never stop fighting you; they will look for the tiniest reason to deny your claim. I know there are books written by folks who have successfully fought insurance companies teaching their strategies, but, unfortunately, I cannot remember the titles. (Sorry that I'm micro-managing, but, I found out some of these tactics after the fact.) Good Luck!

Neither the interviewer nor the interviewed were in a Texas hospital and they couldn’t say the word either. Ryan calls it “the process that had already started”. Perhaps because Abortionwould be the termination of a pregnancy. And this is case what was happening called for expelling of the unviable fetus. Not terminating the life of thefetus.

Sending prayers to him and his wife. I literally cried through his telling just how it all happened. I cannot understand how any person with a heart can think it is right to deny a Mother the desperately needed healthcare when she is already suffering in the middle of a miscarriage. If you have never experienced the absolute trauma of what it feels like when you are in the middle of miscarrying a baby that you are already in love with from the moment that you learn you are pregnant and the desperation of trying to will that babies heart to keep beating you have no idea how hurt and terrified the Mother is and therefore you should have compassion, empathy and most of all, NO RIGHTS to deny her the tiniest sliver of dignity and peace of mind. Unfortunately, I know exactly how his wife feels. God bless and keep her and husband! God bless this husband for doing everything in his power to care for and comfort her during this horrific situation. My heart literally hurts for Ryan's wife and for Ryan. I am praying for this couple.

The men in the state legislature don’t believe the baby died without “help.” They will suspect all women of inducing abortions. Guilty until proven innocent and in the meantime the woman is suffering, along with her family. We have to stop these legislators from ripping away womens’ rights to plan their families and get responsible medical care without questioning their private decisions. What this family went through is horrific.

💔💔💔 I lost my baby to miscarriage in 1992 in the fourth month. I was treated horribly by the doctor. Put on an IV of Valium because I was heartbroken and worried. And I was never ever offered my child to bury. If all these folks believe that eggs are babies and life begins at fertilization and all the other life beginning ideas not based in science just to pass laws to control women then where are our burials and cremation rights to our babies? They think flushing the baby away makes everything better. I heavily mourned my child for 18 years and 30+ years later I still mourn my child. And nobody else cared. No one. When will this society begin treating women with the respect and kindness they deserve? When will this nation, as a complete whole, start treating EVERY BEING with the respect and kindness they deserve? I did not catch the names of the family involved here. However, if you read this you can know that I send all of my blessings, respect, understanding, peace and healing wishes. Thank you for sharing. Your baby is now mourned by far far more people than those who have shared hateful cruel words with you. Take the kindness and love those you share with and wash that other, that negativity, away. You deserve to heal peacefully. Blessings to you.

This is such a tragedy, and there’s a possibility that his wife has retained parts of the fetus in her uterus. That’s why they have to keep doing the pregnancy test to make sure her hormone levels are dropping which tells her that all of the fetus has been expelled. If not, she’ll need the D& C that they denied her in the first place, to remove the remaining fetal tissue. The most effective medication for miscarriage management (induced abortion) is usually a two drug combination and approved for up to 10 weeks in pregnancy. She was past 10 weeks. Texas has challenged the second FDA approved drug, Mifepristone, in the Supreme Court. They are expected to rule on it this summer.

This is a message for Ryan Hamilton. First, I'm so sorry for your loss and what you're going through. 40 years ago I had a 6-month pregnancy where the baby's heartbeat stopped. I had a 2-year-old son and fortunately in another year I had my daughter. Fortunately too. I had a doctor who responded quickly and I went to the hospital and delivered that stillborn baby with the help of a medication that brought on labor. When I've told people about that their answer is oh that doesn't happen very often. But It happened to me and as things go now, maybe I wouldn't be around to write about this if it was in this day and age. Women have come so far to have the rights that they have and the right to their own body and now it's being taken away. Shame on those people that made this happen. Again, so sorry for your loss.

All of us doctors should be suing the United States Congress for practicing medicine without a license! I became licensed in Texas in 1983 but I was an RN in 1970 and worked labor and delivery. I saw way too many women die before abortion was made legal in 1974. I left Texas because of their treatment of women. I found the best care was to keep women completely away from hospitals 96% of the time I had a perfect track record for delivering babies. The United States is now the worst place in the world for a woman to have a baby! I guess they don't realize that's not a trophy you want!

I thought 13 weeks is too far along for the pills. It doesn't sound like they were prescribed or explained properly, either. The farther along you are the more bleeding there will be. It's not blood from an artery. It's the lining of the uterus that is being expelled. This happens when you give birth, too. There is lots of blood for days afterwards and the area where the placenta attached is basically a large open wound on the uterine wall that has to heal. The reason they don't usually give the hormone pills for miscarriage after 11 weeks is because the placenta is more formed and its own organ by week 12. Ryan's wife was treated horrifically for no reason. To help understand more about what happens, please listen to a podcast called Science VS, May 23rd episode about the abortion pills. We need better understanding of pregnancy, miscarriage, and reproductive health in general.
