These are people who WANTED the pregnancy to go full term, they WANTED that baby. but life happened and unfortunately it didn't go through and the pregnancy wasn't viable....GOP says nah, you must suffer, you might die.....sucks to be you. Even if there IS a so-called “heartbeat” (which in the beginning is a misnomer, since it’s just a pulse in some cells that will eventually form the heart), if a woman has begun to miscarry, it is essential to remove the fetal tissue from the uterus to prevent illness or death to the mother. No question about it. And miscarriage is a very common event that women don’t talk about much with men. Ignorant legislators who think they know medicine made these ridiculously risky laws to serve a religious agenda. This is a travesty! Vote them all out.

I'm in a different country and where I am I've had nothing but exceptional maternity care (Always one bad staff member to spoil things but that's everywhere. And feels so small compared to the rest of the world). Despite not having these issues here, I still worry for my sons but FEAR for my daughters. Health care aside, this world is so risky and terrifying to be female. We try to pretend we're better and better, when we're arguably worse than our ancestors because we have the information, we know better. And yet we actively opt not to use it.

Women and doctors know what’s best for them. Not corrupt politicians and judges.

I must have missed the memo regarding why the removal of a non-living (no cardiac activity) baby/ fetus/embryo/zygote/blastula, etc. (choose one) is apparently considered an "abortion." Spontaneous loss of a pregnancy is commonly referred to as a "miscarriage." As in the pregnancy is OVER. It CANNOT be resuscitated. It's NOT anyone's fault. Any NONVIABLE products of conception retained in the reproductive tract can lead to severe maternal complications. The procedure to remove nonviable fetal tissue, when required, is NOT termination of a pregnancy. The pregnancy failed. By itself. Bad stuff happens from time to time. Move on to taking care of the mom in the most appropriate manner. That's all anyone can do. What part of this is not understandable?

I've had 2 miscarriages and I lost my little Amy when I was 6 months pregnant. It was the worst thing that has happened to me. I've been through an ugly divorce, lost my dad, lost 2 uncles and almost lost both my other kids due to medical issues and nothing compares to the pain of losing those pregnancies, especially at 6 months. To have doctors and lawyers add to that pain because of their hate and ignorance and desire to control is unimaginable

I have two daughters of childbearing age. My youngest daughter is😮😮 having her second child - a daughter - this summer. I greatly fear for all three of them and all females in our country. What's happening will have far-reaching and as yet unknown consequences for everyone. Time will prove it out. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to this young family...

My wife almost died in childbirth. It was the most terrifying hour of my life and the first hour of my sons life. This crap has to stop. Allowing women to die so the kids are raised by fathers that just went through the worst thing imaginable is not a good situation for anyone. I had no idea what I was going to do if she died that night. I was not prepared to handle raising a child by myself.

Combine no birth control with no adequate miscarriage treatment, and that's inevitable. Plus, they clearly advocate to keep child marriage legal as it still is in most states. I was Pro-life at one time but a good friend of mine changed my mind by saying this: women risk their lives bringing life in this world. They have to carry that baby and have that baby. So who are we to tell them whether or not to have a child. It's not up to us to tell a woman what to do with her body. When he told me that, and I thought about it, I started to become more Pro-Choice. I support women, and I don't think any woman should be forced to have a baby. I don't any woman should be denied access to life saving healthcare. If we all want to be totally honest, being Pro-Choice is being Pro-Life. So we should stop calling Pro-lifers, Pro-life when they're not.

Losing your baby is a crime now? Is a heart attack gonna be illegal soon? Maybe it will be illegal to die of cancer next in Texas? The person doesn’t have control over if a pregnancy comes to term.

My abortion saved my life at 17 years old. I’m forever grateful I had the ability to decide what was best for my health and future. If I had not had access, my abusive ex would’ve likely killed me with one blow to my abdomen. I escaped, and later met my husband. We have a beautiful family now and I’m so so so thankful for them!

If a woman dies, it is because a judge said no to a life-saving abortion. Then, that judge will need to go to jail for his ruling of death to a woman. How about making that a law in these abortion banning states. Accountability should be placed on the judge as well.

12 weeks into my daughter's pregnancy her baby girl had no heartbeat. I thank God that here in Michigan she had options. The first was do nothing and risk a severe infection if a natural miscarriage did not occur soon, the second was the abortion pills which they said would be very painful to go through at home with a 2 year old. The third option was a D&C (medical abortion) performed in the hospital the next morning which is what they decided to do. They are heartbroken that they lost this baby as are we. I'm a Christian and can't believe those who claim to be can be so heartless and cruel to women in these red states. They would rather see these women die and leave their other children motherless, their husbands and partners overwhelmed with grief while needing to be both parents to any other children in the family. This is NOT "What would Jesus do?" These people are blinded by hate. So sorry for what the Hamilton's have been forced to go through because of Texas's asinine abortion laws.

Most my neighbors, and many friends are trump voters. Many of my in laws support trump. I thank God for many things, both big and small, I am thankful that there are people who see through the hate of the far right and vote accordingly. You are missing the point here, which is a person's right to life saving medical treatment, a doctor's oath to do no harm, refusing to treat a serious infection, judges who are not medically trained making laws against medical procedures many women will need at some point in their life. We have a very religious relative who suffered through three miscarriages before she and her husband had their first child. Each miscarriage was rough; the last one was nearly fatal. She required an emergency D&C and blood transfusion as she was bleeding profusely - honestly like something out of a war movie - like gushing blood. She would have absolutely died from massive blood loss without the procedure. And this religious woman wanted children so very much!! This story just horrifies me given the reality of the danger of miscarriages.

It’s critical to point out that this isn’t just a women’s issue. My wife’s health is one of the most important things in the world to me. You’re coming for my wife, you have to go through me first!

I am very sorry for your loss. I have lost things dear to me too, so I know. It is probably no consolation, but trust that your child is well even if you can't be holding him or her. All of our bodies are temporary vessels that return to the earth from which they came. Your child's soul is living on, and like yours and mine, will live forever in this world. There is no other one.

This happened to my great great aunt [she lived to 107 ]. She let us all know what happened to her in 1914 in NYC. She nearly bled to death & was ultimately sterilized. Obviously, she never had children. So this is 100 yrs back in the dark. We are back to square 1...They expect women to revert to coat hangers. & This is not the only right we will lose.

As a Texan, I'm so saddened by this. It goes along with what many non-MAGA folks in the state experience -- the few, ultra loud MAGAs intimidate people so much they're afraid to put a pro-democractic freedom sign in their yard, afraid to be overheard expressing their views in public. I SO appreciate Ryan's courage and that of his wife. May God bless them greatly. May their friends and neighbors step forward to stand up for them and protect them. Haters gonna hate, Ryan. Now that it's happened and we're witnesses the consequences, it's good that there are people reversing their stances. Many will die before this this gets resolved. I'm sure a lot of people are questioning the risks of getting pregnant in states like his. I would be very hesitant.

It's interesting to note that the same people who supposedly "care" for the unborn are the first to complain about the aid that single moms get, and the first to propose cutting SNAP, WIC, housing subsidies and TANF because poor women are so "irresponsible" as to have kids without being able to support them!

I'm 64. I, for a long time have known that historically the study of Medicine has always been done on Men. The study of Womens' Health has been almost completely disregarded. Because of this, I recognized that Reproductive Health is Womens' Health, and it's nobody else's business except fot the Women and whomever she decides to confide in.

My sisters foetus was Rh + but my sister is Rh -. The rh + was putting my sisters life at risk. She did not respond to anti D injections. On scans there were clots in her bloodstream kidneys etc. She ended up having to have an abortion despite wanting the baby. In Texas she would have been denied and they both would have died.
