Exposing Card Market

In todays video, I am going over one of Card Markets greatest editing techniques. In every Card Market video, they use an awesome trick to show the viewers the players hands during a game of Magic the Gathering. This video will show you the behind the scenes of how it's done!

It was wild when you showed up in the studio and hit Pleasant Kenobi over the head with a shovel (as you can tell from our horrified expressions) but at least it was a necessary evil into making this wonderful thumbnail 😅
The real secret of Cardmarket is that behind the scene, it's actually called Carlmarket
you can make this a hell of a lot easier just by making a small program that automatically downloads and crops all the images on Scryfall based on a deck list. No need for all that manual labor of editing. The next step would be to make the editing process of that automatic so you can just have a widget you put in and update the text of their hand and it updates, but that's a editing software specific thing and I don't know as much about.
Im.a bit confused on how they know whats in the opening hand and what they draw. Are there extra ameras tonshow whats in hand? Or is their a way to sluice through what's on hand by carefully watching the turn of events.
Great video! Awesome insight into something a lot of people want to know, but doesn't know how to start looking that up ahah thanks man!
you can automate most of that using a python script and cropping
i was wondering how they did this for the longest time! it was only when i started watching gameplay on mengus workshop that i realized how long this process took lol
Timmy, my life alert isn't working. You're good with computers, can you help Grandma out?
Video editing aside..... how did you get yourself to look so dang handsome 😍😘
This is a fantastic video and thunbnail dude. I had often thoight about adding this UI for paper playing videos as well
To anyone asking about automated masking: Scryfall provides both images and the frame used on the card.
That's such a great insight into how much effort it actually takes to produce these silly videos about a card game.
Obviously you can do it later, sorting out hands and what was played, but cardmarket also 'pauses' gameplay every draw or turn to take photos of the hand and write down stuff to talk about in the 'interview' portions. At least that's what I remember from their bts video (which everyone should go watch).
Even though I don’t do video editing, this was really great to watch and learn all that goes on behind the scenes of our favorite videos. Thanks!
amazing content !
This is a great video! Ive done some proxy work, and instead of downloading each card image, I keep a separate file of mana symbols. Then using a totally legal copy of beleren font, type out the card name. It saves be from all of the washe of having to download each image, but with your tts trick it might be faster... Maybe i should try that.
In Photoshop you can do this way easyer.
I should start doing this!
This video was great!!! I've been wanting to start making videos myself starting with some of the Commander decks I am passionate about, however, the video creation side seems so alien to me. I don't know where to start.
Damn that's cool bro 😎
