A bunch of thanks for hosting Alan Agumya on this show...he enlightened alot of things about the industry and seems government has to intervene for the mining business to do better

The government's failure to intervene in various sectors has left everything to the private sector, predominantly foreign-owned. This trend risks handing control of key industries to outsiders, disregarding the vital role of government support in strengthening the domestic private sector. Consequently, high unemployment rates persist, and those fortunate enough to find employment often face inadequate wages due to unchecked exploitation by private entities solely focused on maximizing profits. Reflecting on past experiences, such as the exportation of minerals, it becomes evident that these ventures primarily served the interests of foreign companies rather than benefiting the Ugandan population as a whole. The apparent disregard for long-term sustainability and equitable development, particularly evident in discussions surrounding cobalt extraction in Karamoja, underscores the need for a more conscientious approach that prioritizes the well-being of the nation over short-term gains.

The mining department should involve the private sector in developing the mining capacity in this count, Allan has very good ideas i wish the ministry could seek his views and many more people out there.

This gentleman was a very bright fellow at St. Henry's College Kitovu.

the cost of value addition in some sectors is not worth it whereas we can export raw forms and still benefit and in the long run some industries are a danger to sustainable environmental protection we dont realy need to be too industrialized coz its also at a high cost on the environment it depletes nature. Let others do it and we can do things like agriculture. But we cant block those who can get the raw material from getting it. We dont need to add value to everything.

We cannot manufacture Lithium batteries in Uganda because it's made of nine minerals of which all we can't process them here upto usable stage. ✍️✍️✍️

So you want to tell us, those countries that take these minerals have all the components, no we can work together with other countries which have the same components we don't have, people wake up

Same thing european and north America does,same reason why they come africa and other areas to pick minerals they don't have & also add on quality..where i only blame the state is not qualifying its youth to assist it in mining sector but waitingfor amuzungu for liberation@@goddiesanmagoba2357

Allan is just thinking selfishly. Our minerals are kept for future use. Settling the people on the land will be made because the prices of minerals won't be at pause. It keeps increasing also as time goes on. I don't see why he is hurrying

Mr Solomon you are interviewing a long person, we have to remove all these MIDDLE MEN, thanks Solomon on that point of oil but do you know some people like that man were fighting not to get oil,

mineral refining and smelting is an Economies of scale business. It's better to refine Agricultural and milk products here at home which we are good at and export the complicated stuff in raw form to keep the industry afloat for now.

The problem with the current regime is that they spend much of the money into politics and administration. critical skill development has not been given much attention, if you have skilled population its very easy to exploit natural resources

His job is finished, he cannot tell you the truth, if they ban then let's use this opportunity as Africa and, we don't want export, we have to manufacture, those mine are dead because of people like that man who can work for the people

Government wants miners to add value yet it's not working together with the private miners to fulfill that goal. Bagala kukkama ente gyebatawa biwatta!
