Exploring TWO Abandoned Orlando-Area Motels - Creepy Disney Mural

Ойын-сауық

Join us as we explore two adjacent abandoned motels outside of Orlando in Clermont, Florida. The Palace Hotel once housed a family owned Thai restaurant with everything left behind, and a creepy Disney mural in the lobby.
Thanks to Jake from Bright Sun Films for coming along with us on this explore.

I always find these videos both oddly fascinating and sad at the same time. To think at one time many years ago, these buildings were new, full of life, and many vacationers spent time at them. Obviously these were budget accommodations and they served a purpose, like many motels you'll find on 192 near WDW, who are now abandoned as well . It looks so creepy to see how these buildings were left the way they were and the businesses just bugged out and the employees just stopped what they were doing and told to leave. Does the local and state government plan to leave them like this?

I can't see why a local government can't convert some of these abandoned hotels to Homeless facilities, or a halfway facility to house the homeless who are there already. Also with the Housing crisis, why not do this for those who can't afford the high rental prices??? There has been a lot of Federal & state monies to do that!

Over time the buildings become so outdated that they cannot pass inspection codes. The owners do not want to invest money into what are often lower rent housing hotels operating as long term rentals. Thus they are shut down or forced to pay heavy fines. This is why you see so many original Holiday Inn's and Howard Johnson's that are abandoned. They are now upwards of 60 years old from when they were orginally built.

Not only is it a poor location, but there were 4 motels within a block of here competing for little business. Only one appears to still be open and has this lackluster description on Google Maps: "Unassuming motel offering unpretentious rooms with free Wi-Fi..."

No money in it. Offering free help has to be completely paid for by donations, grants, and charities. People need to be paid, resources need to be bought, buildings maintained in hundreds of different ways. It's really expensive and not as simple as "turning abandoned places into homeless shelters or affordable housing"
