Exploring the Old Ripsey Mine with the Casa Grande 4 Wheelers! Arizona Off-Road!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We are always looking for new places to explore, so we tagged along with the Casa Grande 4-Wheelers club for a desert run out to the Old Ripsey Mine, Southeast of Florence, Arizona. Tons of old machinery, open shafts and historic artifacts are all there for everyone to enjoy. What a fantastic bit of old Arizona mining history! Huge thanks the Kena for the invite, and Pat for leading the way! We hope to go on more runs soon with this group! Check them out:

I see you guys dropped in from the Jelco power line then down the wooden power line into Ripsey wash. I’m from Kearny and I know that country well. Grew up hunting and riding quads all through that country. Small bit of history here…the old Ripsey mine is sometimes referred to the Fishback mine. A guy by the name of Martin Fishback owned and ran the mine which mainly mined silver and copper. A friend of mine great father worked there many moons ago. Mine was pretty much done in 1941. There is still a cement foundation in the wash left of the road you drive up where house use to sit.

Just a FYI...I came from the north side of the mine tonight and cut back down to the wash as I often do...and there is now a nice fresh chain and posted signs at the posts where you turn up out of Ripsey wash. Seems like whoever owns the property has decided to stop access.

Do you have the coordinates of this gate? Is it both trails from the north? Thanks

@@Hidden_Destinations It was the turn east up out of Ripsey wash. There was a windmill a few hundred yards down the wash (just before a gate), but that has been removed, so I don't know if you passed that or not. A few weeks ago I was back over there and decided to check out the road I came in on that night to see if it had been chained. There was what appeared to be a fresh chain laying on the ground, but one of the poles had fallen (or more likely, drug) over. I don't think it was there that night, but I could have missed it.
