    This is gorgeous. Beautifully shot, edited, and commented. And I don't mean this particular vid alone. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me this particular style constitutes a film category of its own: the "Fleming doc" category, featuring (1) Sightseeing in remote areas accessed by water (2) Minimal crew (3) Personal experience (4) Visual quality (5) Discreet & superbly integrated soundtrack (6) Carefully crafted, brief & insightful commentary. Please, God, let them live long and prosper, & make more and more of these.

    Interesting comment made in this video which stated that due to "the visibility of glaciers he felt like he was in Alaska". I am Canadian (BC), and it surprises a lot of people that the high, snow & glaciated mountain chain, averaging 2500-3500 meters / 8500-12000 feet high - even higher in places - and known by a few different names along its length, extends unbroken along this coast just out of sight of most of the Inside Passage Waterway from near Mt Rainier at Seattle to Anchorage Alaska, a distance of about 1500 miles / 2500 km. When one reaches "True Alaska" is of course a matter of personal opinion, but there are huge snowfields/glaciers along this mountain ranges' entire length, I have provided a link to a short YT video (not mine) which shows some of the terrain in these very remote and rarely photographed mountains, this is near Bella Coola, British Columbia, and is almost within sight of the Pacific Ocean kzread.info/dash/bejne/lJaWxM58m5rRZto.html.

    The de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver and the Fleming yacht, are elegant timeless designs.

  • @fraserhenderson7839
    @fraserhenderson78394 жыл бұрын

    Regarding the DHC 2 Beaver, Airframes don't wear the way road vehicles do. Re-certification keeps these amazing transporters flying safely. Viking Air in Victoria owns the type certificate and supplies parts and services to very satisfied Beaver operators around the world. It isn't that nothing has come along to replace it, there are a few worthy alternatives. It is that there is no need to replace it. The Beaver, along with the Otter and Twin otter (now back in production), defined a new class of rugged and capable STOL workhorses that continue to be the right aircraft in the north country.
