    I’ve kayaked this route. I stayed at the cabin in fury cove, and waited a week for weather to clear so we could round cape caution. Great memories, thanks for bringing them back!

    I was thinking of going on an Alaskan cruise ship, but my son, a doctor told me what it was like. He mentioned that if you like being around a bunch of people it would be great. He also said to me, "Dad, you don't like being in crowds" and he was right, I wouldn't like it. Imagine being on this trip, but instead of family and friends you'd be in a crowd of people and paying $8 a beer? Plus everything on a schedule that may not fit your own. All for $8,000 to $12,000, last time I checked.

    Skip Maggard - point taken. When we were on the long offshore passages I wasn’t sure how much of it would be interesting but we will definitely get more “inside the boat” footage going forward. One thing we’ve often heard said about these boats - and I’m finding to be true - is the boats can handle a lot more weather than the crew!

    How do you get fishing licenses or do you need one while on passage?

  • @CassidysSailingTrawler

    @CassidysSailingTrawler

    5 жыл бұрын

    MightSnow - fishing licenses vary by location. In British Columbia it’s really easy to purchase a non-resident permit online. In Alaska we bought them in a tackle store in Ketchikan. Kids under a certain age usually don’t need them.

    needs a faster boat that carries fuel(instead of bladders). speed is safer to outrun storms plus need at least 50 or close to it. now if Boston whaler built a 50 footer that will be ideal

    What's your fuel burn?

  • @CassidysSailingTrawler

    @CassidysSailingTrawler

    6 жыл бұрын

    Our fuel burn depends on how fast we run but have been trying to keep it under 2 gallons per hour - which is around 1500 rpm and a little over 6 knots. Not bad for a 50,000 lb boat but we don’t get anywhere fast!

    Sean Bogaard - it is all relative. But the Nordhavn 40 is indeed a small boat compared to other boats that are capable of crossing oceans.
