How come you guys never actually play the instruments that you show on KZread ? If children were visiting the museum, and you wanted to keep them interested and excited, the best way, perhaps the only way to do this, would be to play the damn instruments! Perhaps even let the kids put their greasy gummy little fingers on the keys to play a few notes, with that Leslie spinning away and sweating out its glorious sound !

Thanks for the feedback! In addition to the presentation of these historic instruments, we are also tasked with the preservation of the artifacts in our possession. And though we would love to be able to allow our guests to sample, touch, and play every instrument in our collection, the practice would be detrimental to the lifespan of the artifacts. However, we do have a hands-on, interactive area where guests can fully explore a variety of playable instruments, because we agree that the best way to get someone excited about making music is to let them try it.

@@museumofmakingmusic , at the very least you might want to consider adding some kind of short performance-video clip having a guy sit there, even wearing gloves, playing the Hammond for a minute. Or video from a live concert or two. It's not like you're touching a Renoir; these machines were meant to be played! BTW, I really really like the Martin Simpson performance you hosted. Wish you'd get Richard Thompson, and David Lindley, on there! Or Ry Cooder....
