Exploring Temple of Heaven & Summer Palace | Beijing's World Heritage Sites | 4K HDR | 北京 | 天坛 | 颐和园

The Temple of Heaven Park is located in the Dongcheng District, Beijing.
It is the largest and most representative existing masterpiece among China's ancient sacrificial buildings.
Originally, the Temple of Heaven was the place where emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) held the Heaven Worship Ceremony.
First built in 1420, the 18th year of the reign of Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644), the Temple of Heaven was enlarged and rebuilt during the reigns of the Ming emperor Jiajing and the Qing emperor Qianlong.
In 1988, it was opened to the public as a park, showing ancient philosophy, history and religion.
Its grand architectural style and profound cultural connotation give an insight into the practices of the ancient Eastern civilization.
Covering an area of 2,700,000 square meters (3,529,412 square yards), the Temple of Heaven Beijing is larger than the Forbidden City.
As the 'Sons of Heaven', Chinese emperors were precluded from building a dwelling for themselves that was greater than the earthly residence dedicated to Heaven hence the difference in overall size of the two complexes.
The temple is enclosed by a long wall. The northern part within the wall is semicircular symbolizing the heavens and the southern part is square symbolizing the earth.
The northern part is higher than the southern part. This design shows that the heaven is high and the earth is low and the design reflected an ancient Chinese thought of 'the heaven is round and the earth is square'.
Temple of Heaven is divided by two encircling walls into an inner part and outer part.
The main buildings lie at the south and north ends of the middle axis of the inner part.
------------------------------
★★ Summer Palace, an Imperial Garden in Beijing ★★
------------------------------
The Summer Palace in Beijing - first built in 1750, largely destroyed in the war of 1860 and restored on its original foundations in 1886 - is a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design.
The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value.
The Summer Palace in Beijing integrates numerous traditional halls and pavilions into the Imperial Garden conceived by the Qing emperor Qianlong between 1750 and 1764 as the Garden of Clear Ripples.
Using Kunming Lake, the former reservoir of the Yuan dynasty’s capital and Longevity Hill as the basic framework, the Summer Palace combined political and administrative, residential, spiritual, and recreational functions within a landscape of lakes and mountains, in accordance with the Chinese philosophy of balancing the works of man with nature.
Destroyed during the Second Opium War of the 1850s, it was reconstructed by Emperor Guangxu for use by Empress Dowager Cixi and renamed the Summer Palace.
Although damaged again during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900 it was restored and has been a public park since 1924.
The central feature of the Administrative area, the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity is approached through the monumental East Palace Gate. The connecting Residential area comprises three building complexes: the Halls of Happiness in Longevity, Jade Ripples and Yiyun, all built up against the Hill of Longevity, with fine views over the lake.
These are linked by roofed corridors which connect to the Great Stage to the east and the Long Corridor to the West.
In front of the Hall of Happiness in Longevity a wooden quay gave access by water for the Imperial family to their quarters.
The remaining 90% of the garden provides areas for enjoying views and spiritual contemplation and is embellished with garden buildings including the Tower of the Fragrance of Buddha, the Tower of the Revolving Archive, Wu Fang Pavilion, the Baoyun Bronze Pavilion, and the Hall that Dispels the Clouds.
Kunming Lake contains three large islands, corresponding to the traditional Chinese symbolic mountain garden element, the southern of which is linked to the East Dike by the Seventeen Arch Bridge. An essential feature is the West Dike with six bridges in different styles along its length.

I work my ass off for the money and I vow to spend it on my people. Every opportunity I get, I have and will try to visit china as much as possible. I rather have my people benefit from my tourist spending. I also dont mind spending money on friendly SE asian countries. Cananda, UK, Australia, New Zealand will never get my money.

Thank you so much for the tour, if I ever get to Beijing , I would never leave, the Forbidden City is enough beauty for one lifetime. There cannot be another place in this world at least that matches Beijing, there are no words to express just how beautiful it is. I’ve always loved China, for some reason I always thought I had an affinity with China, for no particular reason. For some reason China has signalled the greatest delicacy capable to man, I will never get to China, but I will never stop loving China, she has been through torrid times, but because her people are so faithful to there country she has withstood everything the world has thrown at her to stand almost untouched.

Thank you for loving China. She went through so much throughout history, it's people like you keep her legacy at large and she will only get better from now. I miss China myself, been binging on Max's videos to cure my nostalgia of living in China. I hope the covid is gone soon so I can get my butt back there. I hope you also get a chance to visit and witness her majestic beauty yourself. Immerse and embrace yourself.

If you are still in Beijing, please do a walk along Beijing's Central Axis (中轴线), the central line that runs through the entire Beijing city from south to north. That would be a fascinating walk, because so many incredible historical structures are positioned along the axis, including Zhengyangmen (正阳门), Tiananmen (天安门), the Forbidden City (紫禁城), Jingshan (景山), and the Drum Tower (鼓楼)!

Walk East but NOT upstairs 😂🤣 The Temple of Heaven celling is something else, every time I see it in 8KRAW film footage takes my breath away. The entire area though with the heavily decorated walkways is gorgeous, just pure eye candy from start to finish. The temple lions here at 47.58 are lovely. I first saw the big brass coloured ones from the Forbidden City on a cover of a book that was either about China or Beijing in a library when I was about 8 years old. The ferocious mythological beast look of them just went hand in hand with all the Ray Harryhausen films I was watching for all the creatures in them 🤣 like minoton from Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, so since then I have always loved their designs, so when I saw the title of this walking tour of yours I did wonder if you’d film them, well done mate 👊😁 Fantastic showing of an amazing area 👏👏 Have you been to Yonghe Temple, Palace of Peace and Harmony 雍和宫 ? I’ll have a look through your collection in Beijing just in case you have, you’ve walked some mileage now that’s for sure 😆 Thank you and take care mate 🙌

Haha, yes, my bag is about 15KG and my camera equipment is about 2.5KG...Carrying this things to climb a very long upstairs path is not an lovely thing to do. Because I should keep my hands be as steady as I can and I have to hold my breath to avoid my breathing voice ruining the video... (My microphone is very sensitive..) So glad that lion recalled your 8 years old memory. That lion is the same with the one of the Forbidden City. You're very good at it! I can imagine why you think about Ray Harryhausen films by watching this creature:) Unfortunately, Yonghe Temple, Palace of Peace and Harmony 雍和宫 was lock down for a long long time, and didn't reopen yet. So this time I can't visit Yonghe Temple. You know what? I took a taxi to the big door of Yonghe Temple and found it's closed....How sad I was... Always so glad to read your amazing words, bro.

@@WalkEast That’s a shame regarding Yonghe temple and fingers crossed it opens for you all soon. Ouch that’s a weighty rucksack 🎒and the gimbal heavier than I expected, you still using the iPhone to film with or changed it ? I forgot to add but at one point you can hear what sounds like a drone rotors and I though owww he’s using a drone now but no, it was the grass strimmers haha 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@Helghast73 No, this video is not filmed by my iPhone. It's my Panasonic camera. So, very heavy with a set of equipment like that. That fake drone scene is a trick....I was running as fast as I can to shoot a drone-like vision... Good day, buddy!
