[4K HDR] Beautiful Moonlight Walk Gyeongbokgung Palace Tour Seoul Korea 2022
A night tour of Gyeongbokgung Palace in the first half of 2022 will be held for 38 days from April 1 to May 29. Of course it's free if you're wearing hanbok.
The hanbok can be traced back to the Three Kingdoms of Korea period (1st century BC-7th century AD), with roots in the peoples of what is now northern Korea and Manchuria. Early forms of hanbok can be seen in the art of Goguryeo tomb murals in the same period, with the earliest mural paintings dating to the 5th century. From this time, the basic structure of the hanbok consisted of the jeogori jacket, baji pants, chima skirt, and the po coat. The basic structure of hanbok was designed to facilitate ease of movement and integrated many motifs of shamanistic nature. These basic structural features of the hanbok remains relatively unchanged to this day. However, present days hanbok which is worn nowadays is patterned after the hanbok worn in the Joseon dynasty.
It was in 1395, three years after the Joseon Dynasty was founded by King Taejo (Yi Seong-gye), when the construction of the main royal Palace was completed after the capital of the newly founded dynasty moved from Gaeseong to Seoul (then known as Hanyang). The Palace was named Gyeongbokgung Palace, the "Palace Greatly Blessed by Heaven."

So beautiful. I must visit at night next time I'm in Korea. It's so sad to know many historical buildings have been destroyed during the Korean war and Japanese invasion. I can only imagine how magnificent the palace would have been in its former glory.

Every almost of historical wooden architectures had been burnt out during Japanese invasion 1592 to 1598 . Historical architectures remained in northern korea had been burt to the ground during korean war by carpet bombing. So korea is tragically unlucky for historical architectures. Remains are only cornerstones.

The palace is beautiful at night. (I believe that pavilion on the lake is where BTS once performed my favorite version of Mikrocosmos!) The traditional outfits are so attractive. I love the sway of the skirts and the straight lines & interesting hats of the men. Everyone was so regal looking! The people who were in the traditional clothing with their phones & the little girl with the light-up shoes under her Hanbok were great. There was such a feeling of "old meets new" throughout and it was even more enhanced by the shots of the city skyline. Great job!

I was there Thursday night and it surely was a beautiful view with all the lights on the old joseon buildings and pretty cool if you dress up in hanbok you get in free :)

Koreans wear hanbok on holidays such as Lunar New Year's Day and Chuseok(Korean Thanksgiving), as well as on events such as weddings and birthdays.

@@vonnievee The rental fee for normal hanbok is 10,000 won for 2 hours. The premium is 15,000 won and the special is 20,000 won. The entrance fee to Gyeongbokgung Palace ranges from 1,500 won to 3,000 won depending on age.

Their garments are not traditional hanbok. It is so called improved hanbok that is rented for pennies.
