Exploring Patagonia's Autumn Wonderland | Bariloche, Argentina (travel vlog)

Patagonia in the fall is one of the most beautiful seasonal changes I have ever witnessed. In March/April, the small leaves of the Lenga trees turn every color from scarlet to maroon, like a crimson tide washing up the sides of the jagged mountains.
Wanting to see the beauty of nature up close, I explored the Patagonian Andes on foot, winding through gilded forests alongside crystal clear alpine streams, spotting mushrooms and birds, and climbing up on top of rocky ridge lines, even soaring through the sky with a parachute, getting a bird's eye view of the hundred lakes nestled below hundreds of snowcapped peaks. I got caught in a snowstorm and saw the world's largest flying bird in the wild, the Andean Condor.
The months I spent in Bariloche were incredible. I didn't show it in the video, but I made a couple of really good friends, whom I shared many wonderful experiences with. I also spent a lot of time in the cabin- once winter came, it was pretty cold and snowy and the roads and trails were treacherous. Bariloche is one of those places that I hope I venture back to one day.

    My buddy Buck turned me on to this channel. It is more than he has described after viewing all the past videos. He also mentioned the postings are worth the wait as I noticed the dated posting after viewing them. Somehow I find relevance in all of this as I reflect back into my life and past. As i will continue to follow your journey.....I applaud you!!

    Hi Louis! Thank you for the incredibly thoughtful comment, it made me smile so big that I sent it to a couple friends. Your friend buck is also a very kind person- I knew exactly who you were talking about when you mentioned him, as I have saved a comment from him that was one of the nicest comments I have ever received. I love that he recommended my channel to you and that it resonated with you. I’d love to hear more about how you find relevance in my videos as you reflect on your own life, and the kinds of things you’ve been thinking about, parallels you’ve drawn, and any other perspectives you have about life on this beautiful planet. If you (both) would like to email me, my email can be found in the contact section of my channel page. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and encouragement. 💕 -Brooke

    Welcome back, Brooke, missed you a lot. And what an adventure you brought with you. Wish I were there with you, but only in the summertime. Wish I was young all over again to be able to climb those rocks, but hey, I'm talking to the girl who scaled vertical cliffs to find her downed drone. Gorgeous scenery, though sometimes scary, carried on the wings of your smile. But where is your sister? She was there with you since you started the Patagonia tour. Looking forward to more of you adventures ❣❣

    Wow, what a cabin. Is that an AirBnB? I'm overlanding South America in a vehicle and wondered if Bariloche would be a good place to winter. I'd need a cabin or something where I could park my rig.

  • @BrookeonFoot

    @BrookeonFoot

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey John! Yes I found that cabin on Airbnb- there are a lot of cabins in the area. I negotiated a monthly rate, which you shouldn’t have a problem doing in the winter. There should be plenty of space to park your rig, the neighborhoods (and houses) are spread out and most streets (gravel, dirt) don’t have sidewalks or curbs. Overlanding is an adventure that I’d love to embark on one day! Hope you’re having an incredible time!

    We recently retired and are traveling for the next 4-5 years between Mexico and Argentina, in search of our favorite cool weather retirement city. Bariloche seems to check lots of boxes. We speak Spanish and have lived in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. We want cool-cold weather, fairly safe, decent hospital, and friendly people. We are aware of Bariloche’s past. Wondering…would you recommend it to your parents ? Are there things to do in the city ? Low cost of living ? Thx !

    If you’re into nature, Bariloche is excellent. The public busses take you to trailheads, and there are hundreds of lakes to visit, mountains to hike around, and forest to wander through. I felt safe, but I spent most of my time away from other people/the city. It is very cheap (look up the blue dollar before you go), though they have wild inflation, which reaches upwards of 40% some years- not too much of a problem if you have USD in your bank, but it’s certainly not nothing. I don’t usually hang around in cities, and that was also true here. There are bars and restaurants, but not sure what else. This would be an ideal place to retire if you’re a nature lover, maybe not if you’re into a robust food scene or museums. Unsure about hospitals/medical care, as I didn’t need that while I was there.
