how does GF20-35MM compare image quality wise to GF23MM?

Oh man. You know this will be a heavy topic in a future video! At a VERY quick use of the 20-35, id say they are very comparable. As you saw… the zoom was ultra sharp at 20mm and 35mm. The 23mm was also ultra sharp. I'd say you cant go wrong with either.

The MTFs for the 20-35mm have been posted on Fuji's site -- so you can compare that. But MTF is just one factor among several.

It appears that you attempted to assess the characteristics of the 20-35mm lens with LightRooms lens correction enabled. If that's true, why? In that condition you are not assessing the characteristics of the lens, you are assessing the characteristics after software has modified and recompiled the image. That's a long way from ground truth. Since you still have the image files, what do they look like when you disable LightRoom's correction.

Good point, but I'm pretty sure that the most common thing to do is to load images into LR with the correction… Honestly this is something I have never really looked into.

@@MikeBanom If you really want to look at characteristics of a lens you need to get it away from Software Distortion Correction (SDC). A few years back Lightroom did not allow you to turn off SDC (I haven't used Lightroom myself since the BETA version). One way to escape SDC is to convert the RAF files to DNGs with Iridient X-Transformer. You can learn more about this in the "Reid Reviews" test of the GF 23mm f/4 lens (though that is a paid subscription). The conclusion of that review was that the 23mm f/4 didn't really need SDC in the first place -- it's that good. This will be an issue for those who now have the 23mm and are considering getting the 20-35mm -- what does the 20-35mm look like "naked"?
