We love wandering through and exploring the beautiful villages and towns here in Abruzzo. We recently visited Castelli the breathtaking medieval hilltop town located in the Teramo province and also included within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. Castelli is best known for its majolica, a decorative ceramic highly prised by nobility from 16th to 18th century and is still produced today by its local artists.
First we stopped at the stunning little Chiesa di San Donato just under 2kms outside of Castelli to admire its majolica ceramic tiled ceiling.
If you are coming to Abruzzo, or are living in Abruzzo and haven’t visited Castelli yet, this town is certainly worth a visit. In the meantime join us for a wander here on KZread.

Adoriamo passeggiare ed esplorare i bellissimi borghi e città qui in Abruzzo. Di recente abbiamo visitato Castelli il bellissimo borgo medievale situato in provincia di Teramo e incluso anche all'interno del Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga. Castelli è noto soprattutto per le sue maioliche, una ceramica decorativa molto apprezzata dalla nobiltà dal XVI al XVIII secolo e ancora oggi prodotta dai suoi artisti locali.
Per prima cosa ci siamo fermati nella splendida chiesetta di San Donato a poco meno di 2 km da Casteli per ammirare il suo soffitto di maioliche in ceramica, provocando mal di collo. (Vedi il nostro post del 22 luglio per maggiori dettagli su questa chiesa e il suo splendido soffitto).

My girlfriend and I are absolutely obsessed with this channel! I am originally Italian however I am currently living in Manchester, UK and will be moving to Abruzzo (Francavilla al mare) in September! I cannot wait after watching your videos! It will be great if we could collaborate sometime!

@@ExploringAbruzzo I have lived here since 2006, before moving here I was living in Padova, Veneto. However, I am pugliese and return to Puglia frequently (before the pandemic...). I am moving to Francavilla because I have a few friends there that are helping me move back to my beloved Italy and I cannot wait! I am currently counting down the days! I have read up on your backgrounds and they sound amazing! Can't wait for the next video :) Stay Safe!

So glad you are enjoying our videos. Rocco decided to jump off a swing whilst in motion. We've all done it, haven't we, but he was just sooooo unlucky. The medical care was great. He spent 4 nights in Pescara hospital before his operation and 3 nights afterwards and we've had plenty of check ups since from lovely medical staff. He is now doing physiotherapy so hopefully back to normal pretty soon albeit with a huge scar! Thanks for your good wishes for his recovery! And thanks for subscribing to our channel. And if you need any help with looking for land or properties get in touch as we know the area incredibly well now and are well aware of all legislation, regulations etc.. as we have our very own building project too.
