SECRET ABRUZZO: Pescara, Italy - An American City HIDDEN in PLAIN SIGHT
In this video we're exploring Pescara, Italy! With 120 thousand inhabitants, and approximately another 300 thousand in the surrounding province, Pescara is the largest city in Italy’s Abruzzo region. Pescara is a special and unique city, mixing the charm of romantic 19th century palazzos with modern architecture. This town has enough hustle and bustle to make you feel like you’re in a much larger city. As a matter of fact, Pescara punches well above its weight in a number of categories, including fine dining, nightlife, and art and culture. It is beyond a doubt Abruzzo’s most cosmopolitan city, and among locals it’s considered super chic to have a pied-a-terre in Pescara’s historic city center.

Born and raised in USA, I have lived in Pescara for 22 years. Thank God the attitude of my beautiful city is not American.

My family on my mom’s side is from Roseto. My dad’s side Napoli. I have been to Naples many times in the Navy but have only traveled that far north to Rome. So I’d like to start close to where my family comes from if I go to Roseto. Pescara looks like a good start after Rome once again.
As an italian born and raised in Pescara it's strange the comparison to an american city. Great video👍
Great video. We love Pescara and live about 30 minutes away. It is definitely a more modern city for Italy because of the heavy bombardment in WW2. The biggest difference with an American city is that you can walk the entire city, any time of day, and never worry about being shot.

Well as long as no American Democrat politician's take over Pescara you should remain safe.

@@fuddcar It hasn't been proven - this is a total lie- in fact it's just the opposite GOP led cities and states have more gun violence - why? Cause they LOVE guns - Texas proves this 100%. The US has more incarcerated people per capita than any other country on the planet. Get your facts straight and use your own cognitive skills (if you have any) and stop just repeating what you have been told. And of course, classic GOP has to throw a vulgar comment in there - low class scum.
Really nice, and does have an American look to it as you say. All of Abruzzo is much better than I ever realized. Beautiful.
Love your detailed narrative of the infrastructure of the city , subscribed for that too. If someone is planning to visit or relocate you give invaluable information and keen insights. Really enjoyed your video and are planning to watch more. Hey from Sacramento California.

I am from pescara and it's the most beautiful city in the world
Looks like Italy to me .
Great to see you back in Abruzzo! Excellent video thank you!
😀Truly enjoyed the narration and views. Excellent delivery.
Love the fact that I've always thought Pescara beach style was actually similar to the Miami one and now I hear that from an american
So nice to see my beautiful city where I was born, so sad that we had to leave this place for Australia, can’t wait to relocate back here, Home ❤

Pescara is beautiful but I don’t know if I would leave Australia.
I'm Italian, from Milan, but I know Pescara and the US cities very well, especially Miami. Italy is wonderful, as are US cities. But the comparison is risky. In my opinion they don't look alike. Anyway thanks for the great video. Gorgeous images 🌴👏

How about Santa Barbara California?
We visit almost every summer. We stay in Pineto and take the train to Pescara. Thank for an enjoyable video of one our favourite cities. It’s certainly a fantastic place to get gelato too, right by the sea.
it's the same stuff, if you say, we are a turkish ciy because we have kebab restaurant
Thanks for an excellent and informative tour of Pescara! Beautiful city!
First time visitor to your channel. I've been looking at Calabria and it appears that there is definitely a 1950-1970's Mid Century Modern architectural aesthetic to this city that I like.

I am very interested in moving to the Abruzzo region … I enjoyed the video
Great video!! Thank you for showing us Pescara!! My people are from a mountain village not far from here!! This is a city well worth visiting!!
Being so early, sun so low, in a built-up area - looks a little dark!
gorgeous and surprising! reminds me of the some places in France an Belgium on the coast, I'm thinking of living close to the area, it is a dream 🥰
Just watched your video loved it. My mom and dad are from Pescara. I was there in 1972 beautiful city.
Miami Beach? Ha ha man you really are something...
Love Pescara. It was our home base for 2 prolonged visits.
I feel in love with Pescara!
My city❤
We have a place in Pescara, I love it!❤
I don't mind Pescara. It's a recent midsize city, just by the beachese, and hills are not far. Anyway, I think it's more and more in decay, as most of Italy No maintenance, no graffiti cleaning. Though not too dirty in general. 👋
Great video JT. Is english speaking fairly common in Pescara? Thank you again for the video.

It's probably a bit better than the surrounding area and I'm sure most shops with younger people working in them can at least navigate a transaction in English. There's also a sizable professional class of doctors and lawyers plus higher-level business people and I imagine the rate of English speaking is a bit higher among them as compared to the general population. That's just my feeling on it though, I've only ever used Italian around Pescara so I haven't tested it.
Aielli for street art as well.
30:00 the street art in Pescara is everywhere, if you go to media museum on the weekend you will have a underground bite
Pescara should pass ordinances against graffiti and spray cans of paint.

in italy municipalities dont have such a degree of freedom of legislation, most things are managed by the central gvt.
I live 20 km from Pescara and never even noticed. Though I did compare it to the US after a couple shootings last year.

It's pretty inexpensive especially if you are accustomed to the prices in any English-speaking city. A very respectable two-bedroom apartment can be had for under $200k and it's possible to go much lower than that if you can compromise on size or location.
Sweet city would like to cruise around town in my Mustang with some Italy girls.
You need to show the nightlife in pescara this doesn't do it any justice plus there is also old town on the other side with many restaurants bars and clubs pescara really comes alive after 6:00 p.m. and then into the night way into the night
The graffiti is disappointing. Is Pescara economically depressed? Are there many English-speaking expats in Pescara?
why this comparation, it's no sense.. nothing to do with an american city, and proud to be unique. Please, you're offending all people from Pescara

Not all the people, just Lelio😉 When you're walking at sunset whit palms on the right and see on the left, you're surely getting California vibes. Please stop denigrating goods things for the city, like this video is. If unique means to be almost unknown, i definitely prefer to be sponsored by good content like this video. Lol, take it up with Guido Piovene and Il Centro, my man! They called it "Pescara, la città americana che non dormiva mai" in an article from 17.1.16 "«Domani vi porto a vedere una città americana».

I don't think he meant to offend anyone. He is merely pointing out that buildings are more modern as in the U.S. where we don't have old buildings like Italy does.
