Abruzzo, Bisenti (Teramo Province) with the kids - Exploring Abruzzo, Italy (Italia)

Bisenti in the Teramo Province of Abruzzo is a small, colourful village with a long history; it is said to be the birthplace of Pontius Pilate (that's where we are standing in the cover picture). Surrounded by beautiful lush countryside, 35kms from the Adriatic Coast and a little less from the Gran Sasso, this small village with around 2,000 inhabitants is a great destination for a day trip. I had a blast with the kids navigating our way around the village following the 'Pedestrian touristic itinerary suggested' signs and eventually, after some confusion, we realised that each letter on these signs takes you to one point of historic interest. What a great idea and a great way to keep both young and old entertained.
We found many interesting sites including the 15th century church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, the majestic bell tower of which is visible from all parts of the village with a height of 40 metres; The Fonte Vecchia from the middle ages, The 13th century Torre di Giovanna di Napoli, the birthplace of Pontius Pilate, and many more.
Oh, and we had to stop of course at Bar Pasticceria Donatella where we had the most delicious ice cream!
We hope you enjoy this video, do give it a thumbs up and leave us a comment, the kids will be delighted. Please also do subscribe to our channel if you haven’t already; it means a lot to us. Grazie! ♥️

Grazie! ♥️

Hi John, lovely to hear from you. I think there are legends of his birthplace all over the place 😃. We like Corfinio, great place and not far from where we live so pop along there every now and then. In fact we also have made an Exploring Abruzzo video of Corfinio some time ago now! Check it out if you haven't already.

Andrew please get back to Italy immediately, because they messed up the itinerary letters and it certainly wasn't going to happen with you. Of course I'm joking hahahahahahahah and they were great anyway. I had a lot of fun with this beautiful video in a charming little village. Guys, however, swap the aperitif at the end of the video with an ice cream? For this time I forgive you! Hahahahahahahahaha Thank you so much for this wonderful video! I love you guys!

🤣That's so funny! But it really was confusing as I took 'itinerary' literally to mean a route that consists of a number of stops, items of interest etc... Anyway it was hot so that didn't help the concentration. I'm making excuses! You're right, it wouldn't have happened with Andrew there of course. 😂

It depends on when and where. The region is very diverse. We are currently living in Popoli and we've experienced 42 in the summer but generally it was in the 30s. In the winter it's cold and snows but generally the snow doesn't stay on the ground as we are so low. Bisenti will have a similar sort of weather pattern as it's between the mountains and the coast. Current temps are around late 20s and low 30s.

I don't think so. A lot of locals let their dogs roam around. They look really healthy too 😍
