Maybe none that can be seen with the human eye, but what about microbes? Its not a closed system - its linked to the sea - so there is access for creatures and plants to migrate into. Wonderfully clear water! Actually, there are closed systems that are teeming with visible life, shut off from all access to other water and sunlight sources - my eldest daughter showed me in her biology book a couple of years ago.
