Well, even the tiniest wave makes a huge difference if you have to pull the whole weight of the fish over the edge or have it just float on top of the rock with nearly no pressure on the leader and hook.
What size of saltiga are you using?? And the rod?

It's a Saltiga 14.000XH and the rod is a Black Hole prototype (see a few comments above).

It's a 8'6 Black Hole Cape Cod Dennis Verreet Special prototype with titanium guides. A lot lighter and stiffer than the one off the shelf. Unfortunately not available.

It’s a 2 piece rod, but not available. It’s a prototype and never made it to production.
