Maybe the contractor didn't get the necessary permits and approvals from the county to actually build on that site, so even if they were completed they couldn't be occupied. There is a reason no-one is actually living there, and its probably a serious one.

Another great video. The owner of the entire lot probably filed bankruptcy due not enough funds to finish the homes. Plus code violations were probably another reason for the homes left unfinished. Have a blessed weekend you 2. 🤘🏻

Why would an unfinished house have satellite dishes? 🤔 Strange that only some of the lawns were mowed and only some were barred up. Wait why aren't there any sidewalks, driveways, garages, etc...🤔🤔 These homes leave more questions than answers.

What an odd situation. Based on fixtures, doors, paint, and cabinets they look to have been built in the early 2000s. The bad framing is most likely the reason they aren’t occupied.

Wondering why R & K only show a likeness to a minimum of their comments? Noticed only a few actually have that the comments were acknowledged or/and appreciated by R & K. Not trying to be mean. I am just curious, as I have noticed other Explorers acknowledge the majority of their fans comments. Unless, of course, they are just downright unlikeable.

Glad to see you guys back!!! Looking at those houses, I was wondering if they built them, then found out it was on a sinking property. Those windows are really close to the ground. My reason for saying that about the property is because in my area there was a neighborhood starting to be built and a few months after people started moving into their houses they found out the property was sinking. Couldn't finish building the neighborhood.

I bought one of those homes in 2006 .. the contractor back in 2003-2004 started building those houses at the same time some shady stuff was going on with the contractor and mayor at the time they ran city water to the homes from the main highway line maybe a half mile away that didnt meet any of the codes they had a good ole boy system going on and let it all pass , soon after the contractor lost his funding and homes were foreclosed on each home was financed by different banks .. they sat empty for several years by then a new mayor was elected and deemed the city water lines installed before not usable , the banks sold a couple of the homes we bought one not knowing the water issue so now the problem was getting water to them... the lots were to close together and the city would not issue permits for well water and septic so only way to get it was was to pipe into the city main half mile or so away and the quotes were anywhere from 125-150k just for that so no body would touch those homes once that got out and the ones who bought homes turned them back in and we lost our lunch money

Interesting point. I was born in Brooklyn, NY, but my mother was born in Pinewood, SC and grandparents lived there. I would spend my whole summers there in SC Every year. When there was a flood of Jamaicans who moved to New York in the early to mid 80's they seem to connect more with me than with city people who only knew new York city, so I get your point. Slums in the Caribbean aren't much different than living in the dirty south, the bush I call it. As a Man I Love it now, as a kid I hated it down there.

First of all "Welcome back"!!!! You both were greatly missed by your faithful fans. It's seems so strange to see so many vacant pads in the same neighborhood. All in various degrees of disarray. The empty baseball field? Creepy vibes! I think that empty building at the field was a snack building to bring in mula for equipment, etc. So sad, to see what may have been potential dream homes that seemed to either not have happened at all. Or was very shortlived. Which I am assuming being there was a baseball field that obviously was probably used at one time. All of the building materials, windows, paint, doors, cement, time and effort. What a waste of it all! Thanks for sharing!!! 😊 P€a¢€~n~£0v€✌🏻

That was a pretty cool find. Looks/sounds like maybe some type of mortgage scam was going on there. One of your older videos had a similar situation, a small abandoned neighborhood where houses weren't being built up to par and people are locked into mortgages but can't live in the homes. Builder split with the dough. Could be the same thing here.

That could be very possible. There was a similar situation by me where the builder Kirk Homes (out of business) built a large subdivision far from the main road and had the models close to the main road for advertisement. These homes were on a real street and had a townhome section. The real neighborhood was never completed by the original builder and had many lots left. For some reason the model homes all sat abandoned. These were nice homes too. 3 car garage 3,000 sq ft homes built in 2007. They sat and became completely destroyed by vandals. The city eventually did fire training on all models and burned the houses and the townhouse unit down. Very strange thing that happened with those model homes. Must have been at least 8 or 9 models too

Cool video - interesting how someone built those homes and split! No stairs or steps in or around these homes I wonder if this development was going to be a retirement village for 55+ people - there are some gated retirement communities built like that close to where I live. They are all one level with no stairs and the homes are about that size. I hope they finish what they started, its a nice peaceful area! Thanks for sharing! 👍

Nice little video. I agree with not vandalizing buildings. I guess kinda shock that people living in the country would need to put bars on their windows. I remember living in the country. Not seeing things like that. I guess times have changed.

Nice to see the two of you again, your such a great couple :o) This little town is very intriguing. Some places are completely trashed and others you can't even get in to. Very mysterious......

Should have looked at the tint stickers on the paint cans, they usually have a date on them when the paint was tinted.

Great little explore. Gets the mind thinking on who and what was being planned. The Baseball field seems to say that at some point people were close by.... maybe before those newer houses were built. The fact it had a snack stand would suggest that at least a reasonable amount of people used the place once. Looks like others have said these are going to be knocked down and the land used for another development. I just hope that if anyone did lose money they are able to get at least some of it back.

The Proper People did a exploration of a subdivision near ATL that a contractor threw together as a huge scam. There was a similar situation in TX, huge castle-looking houses that were pretty much empty shells, with no streets or infrastructure. An alternate scenario would be the houses were built legit, but the lots turned out to be unsuitable for residential structures or was in violation of zoning laws.

Makes me think the owner was planning on selling the homes via owner finance and for whatever reason it didn’t work out

Seems odd these homes have no garages, driveways or sidewalks, they seem to just be sitting in an empty field.

@@maidenthe80sla It sounds like it was shady to me too. I think Kristy was right when Rob told her the framing looked sketchy and she theorized that may have been what halted construction. I think Rob was also right in that a couple of people got taken. If things were halted by the county for code violations in the construction of the houses, those that owned any of them would not have been allowed to live in them. They also wouldn't be allowed to sell them.

It’s true. Homeless, abuse victims, veterans could use these houses just to help get them on their feet. It’s sad no one considers that.
