    @@Ealais76 yeah no what? The stories are better darker and bleaker. With modern day reflection on how we treat each other. Look up Cesar’s speech at the end of conquest of the planet of the apes. that’s when cinema was almost at its peak. The wondering if the human race will thrive past the conflict or disappear due to its mistakes repeated so long ago. You’d have to be blind not to appreciate those aspects of the OGs.

    The OG planet of the apes kinda sounds like terminator. Since terminator came after, they may have borrowed a few plot points.

  • @magnusprime962

    @magnusprime962

    23 күн бұрын

    They might have borrowed the idea of a cyclical causality thing, but beyond that not really. The first Apes movie is about an astronaut from the present day who travels through a wormhole and crashes on the titular planet. The fact that it’s a future Earth is a twist at the very end. Traveling to the past didn’t become important until the third movie, and even then the cycle wasn’t established in it. It was really something the series accidentally stumbled into.

  • @NichHustler

    21 күн бұрын

    @@NichHustler It wasn’t planned out from the beginning and many different writers and directors worked on the original series without communicating with each other. So yes, they stumbled into it. In fact, the novel the original film was adapting didn’t take place on Earth at all, and I don’t think there was any time travel either.

  • @solarus2120

    @solarus2120

    As far as I know about the novel, the 2001 film is closest to that. The planet blowing up at the end of 2 was a thing done to appease Charlton Heston as he didn't wanna do more Apes films. That's also the reason he's barely in the second film. Time travel or a prequel were really the only options open to them to continue the plot, and Roddy Mcdowal was almost a guaranteed draw at the theatre
