Eddy, Lars, Bob, Slim Bob, Christie, Tiger, Kuma, Panda, Ling, Miharu, True Ogre, Jinpachi, Sebastian, Lili, Wang, Yoshimitsu, Unknown.. You get the point. One thing that stopped me from dropping Armor King, is what JDCR said and also what Mainman said. JDCR said that Armor King is a honest character. Mainman said that if you win with Armor King, especially against a Leroy or lab characters, you truly are the better player. And because of that, I will always be loyal to Armor King.

At JDCR levels of play he is. At lower levels you can just scrub someone out with him. Dont play a character just so that people think you are"honest". You can play honest with ever character if you want, just as you can play cheesy with all characters(if it is actually effective is something else).

Olive God I do agree with that. Im nowhere near JDCR level but even at a Fujin, it’s been very difficult playing Armor King compared to other characters like my Jin, Kazuya, Drag, and even Negan. They have such great tools. But it’s still very rewarding winning with AK against Hworangs, Yoshis, Mishimas, etc.

I played an AK last night and all i did was stepping, once he started doing the high homing I just ducked and after that i interrupted his slow mid homing for great ch damage. Everything he did to me was a risk, he basically had to just do df1 at some point because he just didnt have any other tools, poor guy.

Olive God i mained Mishimas for a bit before AK came out. So AK having a Mishima wave dash helps a lot with side stepping opponents. I barely if not never use his DF 1+2 as a neutral option because of how slow it is. Maybe only oki situations. My go to’s for side steppers are his F F 3 (the high homing move), wavedash FF+2, Wavedash Dark Upper, and his CD 1 which is his electric practically that catches side steps. That actually conditions my opponents to stop side stepping.

I'll ALWAYS PREFER ARMOR KING over KING

Alsp people forget that king has normal air throws, while AK only SW. If opponent does a hopkick while you do a throw (like Tombstone) King will grab them, while AK don't, and he gets launched. Huge difference for a throw heavy character.

Armor king is the only character that got me out of greens. I tried King first but he felt more gimmicky to me. Lil Majin said it best about AK "I just fight, I just play Tekken." and that's how I approached him. He's an honest character with style and his wins are rewarding.

Not gimmicky. Just more throws and the chain throws. And harder to execute without getting counter hit and demoralized. They can also be guessed to cancel them so definitely not gimmicky if it's 50% effective. If you can't use King crushes and pokes, which are average, you're never getting out of greens.

As a king main i enjoy this video... i would like you to do something similar with marduk (because you played him a few days ago) and king explaining who is better and you know. Great video TMM!!

Honestly I don't think it would be that hard.... little more range here and there... chop a couple frames from some mids... add a paul sized damage buff and your done. Leave King ahead in the oki and throw chain departments. Armor king doesn't have to be better or even as good as king but FFS close the gap a little.

26:43 I’m pretty sure b+4 is 18 frames too. So you could do CH FFN 1+2, B+4 to get the wall bounce (and also have your back turned), and then get the back turned 1+2 unblockable

15:13, you can get 70 is you use 2 jab instead of 1. Slightly tighter window to go for the grab but easier apon practice. Applies to any combo that involves a 1 jab. Try replacing it with a 2 jab, ALWAYS more damage.

With AK's f,f, n, 2 it has better speed, better frames on hit (which was mentioned), AND on counter hit you can pick up for a combo. I still don't think it should be as punishable on block, but maybe that's why they made it so punishable?

Yeah, I suspect that that might have been why they've left it at -18 on block while buffing King's to -14 - higher risk (all members of the cast can launch-punish Armour King, whereas only a select few can launch-punish King), higher reward (Armour King's ffn2 leads to a much bigger frame advantage on normal hit and leads to a full combo on counterhit, whereas King's version on counterhit leads to an automatic command grab for 53 damage, which is not quite as good). That kind of makes sense.

No doubt about that, King is better than Armor King, but he's still really good and he has a complete different playstyle to offer compared to King. But like JDCR said, there are too many dumb shit in this game that make AK pale in comparison with other characters, and the devs always keep opening the wound making cuestionable decisions like the reiterated buffs King keeps getting each season for no reason, or the unnecesary buffs to already strong characters like Steve with his new RD, or Alisa with even more +frames to her retarded chainsaws and giving her a long range whiff punisher. Meanwhile, there are much worse characters and Namco leave them into oblivion. Now talking more into Armor King, despite the change of the game system, which really hurted him, he still can work, but is an obscenely demanding character and the reward feels unfair, that is why a lot of people just drop the character and they say he's trash. I feel like AK is a very misunderstood character and he has a lot of unique things that can be quite powerful. The character has tools that, if you master them, can be deadly: WAVE DASH and BUFFERING. The first one is your main option to build some pressure since you lack + frames on block, this is primordial to enhance his key moves, like df1, df4 (this one is insanely good if you perfected the cd cancel), d3, diverse throws, etc. Doing this, those moves which can be easily stepped now realigns with the opponent, not only that, this can camouflage those moves, and it can be pretty cheap if you wavedash wisely. And then, the second one is a very powerfull tool AK can exploid. Buffering in Tekken is when you can imput some move, before you are alowed to actually attack and it helps the move to come at the fastest possible frame easily, mainly used for throws. There are a lot of good moves where you can exploid the buffering. E.G: after a blocked running 3 or CD1 at the wall, 1 jab, d3, 2,1, df1, f3, f4, ffn2, b1+2, etc. But Armor King really needs buffs?, yes, he definitely needs some, knowing how hard he is to play at high level and the execution requiered he should be stronger. But nothing drastic, just some healthy changes: . ss2: the move should retrieve it's old knocks down property on normal, and/or maybe being a CH launcher, same combo as the b1 one. Therefore, you are prepare to use 3+4 in both situations. I was thinking about it being hit confirmable, but with the Tekken 7 wall carry it would be too busted. . d2: AK should have a safer and more imposing mid to mixup his highs, and what they can do is make this move +12 on crouched opponents, so you get guaranteed ws4 or crouch throws attemps. And in order to differentiate this from the other ones they should swap the effect on the oponnent behavior of the CH d2 to this crouched one and let the CH the same as the normal hit. . d3: increase the damage please, is ridiculous how a stomp that rip off your toe only does 11 damage, change it to 13 and we are talking now. . db1+2: the move should force crouch on block. . db2,3: this move should be a natural combo on normal hit and his main 14f standing punisher, with the new property they give to it, would be a really strong tool, right now it's almost unseen outside combos, because it just doesn't work. If it were to be natural, should be -15 on block. . ws1: make it recover faster on hit, so you are alowed to do bigger combos, right now uf4 does more damage and is faster, that doesn't make sense . ws3: just remove this useless garbage and replace it with a 13f ws punisher. . b1+2: change the frame advantage on normal hit from +5 to +8, so they can't backdash. . b1,2: allow you to go into Shadow Step after it connects, and let the second hit be delayable. . ffn2: allow you to do the blue sparks Dark Upper, same concept as CH ws2. . cd4 - become an armor move, change frames on block from -9 to -12 (it gain pushback tho).

don't forget on CH ff,n 1+2 you get f1+2 into RD with king :) King gets a lot of setups for guarenteed RD

ff1+2 if buffered can be as fast as 11 frames. you can do jab on block then trade opponent jab with it and you get the counter hit. super hard to do though and not actually totally sure if it works this way.

I always say that Armor King suffers the Lee syndrome. They both require execution but the reward is mediocre so there is no point on picking up this two characters unless you love them.

8:30 armor king has ddt which is also 1+2 break and side switches and the 3 kick is guaranteed leaving ur opponent back turned and sandwiched between you and the wall. 1+2 breaks are actually better on armor king because of ddt.

@@alikhavari4250 Yes but King's throw wallsplats so you can go with wall damage and then ground throws instead of aerial jaguar bomb. You can also do his rage drive if you are in rage so the possibilities are just so much better and more damaging.

Great video as always. About the db3 comparison: I do think Armor King's db3 has a lot more evasion than King's db3. Can't count the amount it went under my mids. Going under mids as a CH launcher is a pretty good property.

Regarding the ffn inputs, i guess you'd need a neutral input in between the two forward inputs. Still 12+ frame since you can do 1+2 on the same frame as the last neutral input, so you don't have to count that one. Just in case someone gets confused.

Bad lows and very punishable, bad frames to keep the momentum, no cheap moves or spammable moves with very little risk, he doesn't moves that dictates the matches, useless stance that has no mix ups etc. The thing is that AK doesn't require a lot of lab apart from the grabs because his other tools are fair and aren't threatening. He is weak but he requires execution and has no reward so where is the point to pick this character?

What about armor king’s df3?

Go to the Character Select think in choosing King, imediatelly change to Armor King

Give ak a ws4 dmg boost at 25 and a ch knock back animation like 121. Df1 dmg to 16 and tracking to his bad side. D3 slight range increase and 15 dmg. B1+2 a range increase to be the same as df1. Armour move i15. And rage drive make it mid.

17:34 Armour King does have his FC df2, which is i24 and +1 on block. It's not terribly useful but then nor, I'd argue, is King's db2. In fact, I'd say that Armour King's FC df2 is slightly more useful, given that it can be used to launch-punish certain lows on block where WS1 will whiff because of its piss-poor range. On the other hand, it's not at all clear what use King's db2 is supposed to be.

AK has to pay the Mishima Tax

No matter how much king is better than armour king. You shit your pants when an Armour King player knows what he is doing

I didnt hear much talk about wall damage, doesn't AK generally have better wall combo damage?

He has, at list now with the oki buff of d2,4,3. But King still can deal more damage with his 50/50 ender with ground throws.

Armor king needs a buff, at high level he's pretty slow and doesn't make pressure

Honestly I don't think it would be that hard.... little more range here and there... chop a couple frames from some mids... add a paul sized damage buff and your done. Leave King ahead in the oki and throw chain departments. Armor king does have to be better or even as good as king but FFS close the gap a little.

@@Brass_Heathen I said ak makes no pressure (in my opionion) because he is always in neutral, whatever he does he's always in neutral... so a random braindead howarang or law can stop you just poking you... that's pretty annoying to me. I think that he should take advantage from specific combos.
