00:00 What is the difference between past continuous and past perfect continuous?
1:02 EXPLAINED! Past Continuous Grammar
E.g. It was raining when I left the house.
We use the Past Continuous tense when a long and continuous action in the past was interrupted by a different, short action.

Hello, your lesson is intriguing and extremely clear. I just would like to have a clarification about past simple continuos: it is correct to say that the short action occurs while the continuos action is going on and that the short action not necessarily interrupt the longer one? Thank you in advance
I was listening to an amazing English story just before I encountered this fantastic video of yours! It had been quite a couple of years since I started my English language jorney! Thanks for the straightforward and well structured lesson ❤
I had studied grammar for two years when I founded this awesome teacher. I was listening when my dad arrived to home.
English(American) is my second language. I learned it in Elementary so I feel comfortable speaking it. However, if you were to ask me to explain all the rules of the English language I’d start sweating 😂 thank so much for your help and your simple explanations.
hi Greg, your videos are brilliant, they are very useful and easy to understand/very clear explanation. I have a Q: what is the difference in meaning between "It was raining when i left the house" and " it had been raining for 2 hrs when i left the house". as i understood in both examples it is was still raining when i left the house, so whats the difference, is it just the duration of time mentioned in the 2nd example? Thanks and best regards
Thank you Greg for great explanation, well explained. I was studying English when I found your channel. I had been listening to other teachers when I found your channel and I would recommend you as the best teacher I have ever had.

Great explanations, Greg! In Canada, we use simple past most of the time and add explainers instead of using past perfect continuous! HAHAHA!!! "It had been raining when I left the house," becomes, "It was raining when I left the house, but then it stopped."
