Explained: Astigmatism vs. Myopia

James Ball explains the difference between Astigmatism and Myopia. In astigmatism, the curve of the cornea is not the same in the horizontal and vertical directions. The cornea looks like a rugby ball, with a steep curve on one side and a flat surface on the other. In myopia or short-sightedness, the eye is longer than average. In some cases, the cornea may be more curved than usual. To learn more about astigmatism and myopia, please visit our website at www.customvisionclinic.com/ey...

Myopia also mean eye is abnormal shape, longer then usual and light reflex in front of the retina instead of on the retina causing blurred vision only at long distances, it’s a progressive condition and can cause eye problems later on in life if left untreated, for example, detached retina... I only know this because my son now has myopia..

Myopia/Hypermetropia is issue of the eye ball (the screen) shape. Astigmatism is issue of cornea (the lens) shape.
