One cool fact is that the Efteling actually had a tv-show called: De Sprookjesboom The fairytale tree tells about all the adventures in the fairytale forest and then you see all the characters!

The reason why Joris en de draak(George and the dragon)is closed is because they are replacing the wooden track, and in one corner(the one at Python) is getting replaced with a metal track due to getting worn too fast (So its going to become partly hybrid). Also Spookslot isn't getting renovated, it has been fully demolished since the building's structural state was getting too bad and is getting replaced by Danse Macabre which is the name of the Spookslot violin song, Danse Macarbe will be a whole new ride type from Intamin Amusement Rides, they specially designed it for and with the Efteling. however part of the tower from Spookslot is still standing and will be used as theming in the new area).

I don't know all the details, but actually the asian section has been reworked not too long ago. Instead of all being squinty eyed, they now went with a varied selection of eyes, only some remained squinting, as well as pronounced frontal teeth being removed altogether. And the entire African scene is now changed to no longer have "black people with rings in their noses" and instead have a more modern showing of i believe even a specific country in afrika (the flag signaled that, but i forgot the country name)

The country is Uganda. It used to be South Africa but then an Ugandan representatif that visited told the Efteling that there are no gorillas in South Africa, so recently the Efteling changed it.

Also in the part where the people are taking pictures at first it where americans taking pictures of the asians, so it definitely improved even if its still a little problematic.

It’s definitely making the decision to use the same facial features in the molds for all of the figures in “It’s a Small World” seem quite prescient. Though there are still some…ahem…questionable secondary paper mache figures in the “Asia” section of the Disneyland attraction to this day.

I love seeing your reactions to the Efteling (being Dutch myself and having worked there) ❤️ and your excitement for our mayonnaise and chocolate sprinkles xD In case you didn't know, if you get too dizzy riding Villa Volta, you can look at the mirrors on the side. They show you the orientation you are really in :) Also the boat/rollercoaster ride is called de Vliegende Hollander (so not just Hollander ;) ), which means the Flying Dutchman and basically tells the story of the captain of the Flying Dutchman starting in the queue itself! I love that ride so much and love that every ride in the park is based on a story/fairy tale :3

Carnival is also inspired by the way dutch celebrate carnaval. People get dressed in outfits of something they are not in regular live. In parades, events the local politics will be roasted and everything can be used to get fun of. Stereotypes are becomming enlarged. I hope I explain it well. But that is also behind it.

Denise used to be a Disney face character right? So fun! What she says is not completely true. The Efteling is creepy because the real fairytales from Grimm and Andersen etc are very creepy. Disney made them cute and with a happy ending but lot of fairytales don't have happy endings. That's why the Efteling seems kinda creepy. Anton Pieck was the one who designed what everything should look like BASED ON the true stories. 🥰

Thanks for the lovely vlogs! I always have a smile on my face! The Efteling has so many easter eggs/secrets. It's really fun to figure it out. Do you perhaps have more of those treats?" 14:04 : With the Sinbad ride, They changed the whole area. It suppose to simulate a sea storm. The whole area is doing things. spookslot is getting renewed into dance macabre. its a new attraction but it will still have parts of the original ride there and they even seem to keep a wall of the original attraction. Andf joris and the draak is getting some fixes to make it more stable and hopefully will help with the spotty runtime it has had. they give a corner metal beams because the ride had some movement in that corner. And they want to fix the dragon to move again. Villa volta is a big swing inside a huge drum and those combined give the feeling you flip over and over but if you check the mirrors on the side you see how the swing is hanging. but it gives a feeling that you really go upside down.

Oohh yes I would like to see you try the snacks!

A book on the history of the Efteling describes how the architect, Anton Pieck, instructed the builders of the houses in the fairytale forest to use their left hand while putting mortar on, because he didn't want the walls to be perfect and straight. They needed to be crooked and rough.

The sinbad ride has boats on rotating panels and some on not rotating panels maybe if you try the one that is not on a rotating panel you like it more 😊😊

Carnival festival definately has a it's small world theme but it is also about the dutch holiday called carnaval wich is about dressing up and having a party thats why they are all wearing red noses. And the attraction was made a while ago and the asia part used to be even worse so they changed it but hopefully they will change it again!

The Swimmingpool was actually where the boats of the Flying Dutchman go in to the water

It is the back of Symbolica that you pointed out, you should come back in summer. Summer Efteling. Every square has entertainment, nicer weather, open from 10 till 10 in evening. And, flying dutchman has New seen

As a Japanese person living in the Netherlands and loves themeparks, I have love hate relationship with Carnaval ride😅 I love that Japan has big section in it but I can't love that section bc it's portrait of how Europe sees Japan not real Japan😅 I'd rather have smaller but accurate portraits of Japan and more Asian countries than what we have now Anyways, Congratulations on 30k❤ Looking forward to see more contents (Hopefully you can visit Tokyo Disney next year! Would love to give you tips!!!)

Carnaval Festival is stereotyping every country in a humorous way. Just be proud, everyone likes the Japanese section, nobody looks at Japan literally that way. Same as not all Dutch wear wooden shoes.

The candles were lit ... strange. My men cracked open the offertory box, and I myself emptied the altar. And then, suddenly, a slender hand appeared on my shoulder. I looked around, and behind me stood a young woman, her eyes ablaze. All saw her, and the clinking of gold and silver ceased. She seemed ... to float in her long white dress. For a moment I felt something like fear, and she spoke to me: "You, Hugo van den Loonsche Duynen, thou desecrate here this house. So repent, and seek not to call the Lord's wrath upon you ....' But I, I overcame my fear, dismissed her with scornful laughter and shoved her away roughly. I called for the men to leave and saw that she dissolved into nothing ... A day later, I reached my house. I was shocked; atop the facade stood...SHE! The lady from the chapel! ​Her arms waved as if swaying in the wind. I heard her voice, as if it were floating in my head: "Nowhere in your own home, nor anywhere in the world shall thou find rest or peace, now that thou hath violated God's house ... only when a noble person with the clean conscience of a new born child will enter your dwelling, shall thou find peace in your home and in your heart ... The way you look at the Efteling in your vlogs is so fascinating. I went to the Efteling multiple times (I'm Dutch) and didn't think much of it. The attractions are fun but that's it. Nothing compared to Dinsyeland Paris - the parc I love so much. But that's exactly what it is: it's not Disney. The Efteling has its own magic. And I just realised that by looking at the parc through your eyes in this vlog, lol. Thanks for that Sam. 😀

12:00 I think you're right. I think the last time you visited was just before the well erm the sociological changes that are put in place now. 13:59 Sirocco. It's called Sirocco. The name of a storm around the mediterranean sea. 20:37 That would be Kaatsheuvel. If you know German pronounciation, that would be spelled as Kahtshövel. Efteling is south of the town. Hotel is north-east of park. And no, I don't have an annual pass, but like many Dutch I know the park from summer & winter visits and you get updates from vlogs, podcasts and such.

27:28 A name of a person :) wahaha. Well, Efteling is in the catholic regions of the Netherlands. It actually was a catholic park when it started in 1937 (RK Sport & Wandelpark) (1952 my behind :)). The person is Saint George., who famously slain a dragon, as the legend goes. Or as we call him St. Joris 55:42 This would be near the Zwembadlaan (as the name impies: swimmingpoollane), where De Vliegende Hollander is nowadays. Or well, the old Zwembadlaan led to it. Well, as you can imagine since the park started in 1937 there's a very long history, but thereabouts. And yes, Zaanse Mayo is the best (Dutch) one.

Yeah they hve changed the ride big time recently to be less stereotypicl way of portrzying the countries. Still a few things but its gortten alot better i cnt wait to tke my son on that ride soon hes the age where lights and lusic are soo amazing so i think he will love it hes 5 months so he cn sit on ure lp nd can watch everything its gonna be soooo cute

Omg spinny rides are VILE 😂 I’ve never understood why people have issues with rollercoasters but they’ll go on things that spin 😂 I’ll go on anything that drops or goes upside down… but if it spins 🤢 it’s a no from me 😂 it ruins the rest of my day!! X

The bins are based on a very old Dutch Rhyme about a little boy called, holle bolle Gijs (hollow chubby Gijs), that could eat everything and still be hungry. It roughly translates to: Have you heard of the hollebollewagen What that Holle bolle Gijs was sitting on? He could eat, big chunks A cow and a calf and a whole horse half An ox and a bull and seven tons of beer A ship full of turnips and a church full of sheep And still Gijs couldn't sleep because of hunger! They where placed as an idea to keep kids from throwing their trash on the pavement. And I guess it worked very wel!

to me it looks like everywhere needs a new lick of paint, they need to make the outside parks look less boring too tbh. This place reminds me more of Pleasure island that used to be open here in the Uk where its got not massive rides its just little rids and attractions really not a top themepark by any means
