EXO's CBX vs. SM: Renewed Battle Exposes Deep K-Pop Industry Issues
EXO's unit group CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin), who have been beloved as representatives of K-pop, are once again in the spotlight due to their conflict with SM Entertainment.
Last June, CBX raised issues about SM’s unfair long-term contracts and opaque financial settlements, indicating they would take legal action.
Although both sides were reported to have reached an agreement, the conflict has resurfaced after a year, leading to an urgent press conference.
On the 10th, CBX's agency, INB100, held an urgent press conference to accuse SM Entertainment of unfair treatment.
At the conference, CBX claimed that SM made unreasonable demands, such as requesting 10% of their individual activity earnings.
They also asserted that SM did not adhere to the 5.5% distribution fee rate agreed upon last year and announced plans for legal action in response.
Although the CBX members did not attend the press conference in person, attorney Jae-hak Lee and Chairman Ga-won Cha were present to express their stance.
Chairman Cha emphasized, "Baekhyun has been like a younger brother to me for a long time, and the tampering allegations are not true," strongly opposing SM's unfair demands.
SM Entertainment completely refuted CBX's claims, insisting that the core issue is tampering.
SM argued that CBX wants to enjoy the rights and benefits of being EXO members while neglecting their obligations, and they stated their intent to hold CBX accountable through legal action.
Furthermore, SM claimed that CBX had never previously raised concerns about past financial settlements and argued that the press conference was merely a tactic for personal gain and public opinion manipulation.
The conflict between CBX and SM highlights not only a contractual dispute but also structural issues within the K-pop industry.
Fans are eagerly awaiting EXO's full group activities, hoping for an amicable resolution between both parties.
However, the outcome of this conflict remains uncertain.

I think SM is getting scared of Baekhyun company the INB100, why? Baekhyun's first Asian Solo Tours really make it, we can say that is successful. Originally 23 concerts in almost 20 country in Asia, but now it's more demanding instead of 1 day, most goes to 2 days and sone 3 days encore and goes to 30 concerts with almost 30 country and all are successful. Why SM have the nerve to ask Baekhyun a 10% of it and later 5.5%. SM has no shame asking that when they don't have share in it even half percent...so greedy, do not remember that when Baekhyun dischage in military should give him 1 come back or give his 4th album come back, but instead, give CBX a hard time, and intead give Suho a come back instead of Baekhyun, which Baekhyun don't mind give Suho another come back album, but till end of 2023, Baekhyun didn't get it. So when Baekhyun has his own company he decide his Solo Asia Tour and oh boy, he did it and become successful, now SM is getting scared and being greedy asking Baekhyun 10 or 5.5 % of Baekhyun's income or sales...what a shame! SM should be ashamed of themselves, showing their greedines from their ex artist that they mistreated. SM probably think "oh those sales should goes to SM," yeah right in ur dreams, lol! This is what u get when u mistreated EXO, especially Baekhyun, who always proves his selling piwer. SM should also wait when Baekhyun come back in his solo album, plus the CBX comes back, and Xiumin, Chen already did with his 4th album the Door with the title teack EMPTY, please support him, thanks! Baek and Chen are both main vocalist and Xiumin could be lead vocalist and can be a rapper and dancer of the team. We will wait, who knows when Kai and Sehun can join INB100. DO has his own company, we should support him also! At least EXO is going somewhere far!

Exo-L wants that EXO leave SM entirely, taking their names and all the royalties with them, and that's only possible if they go to court 😢 Exo-L is ready to support EXO and every member individually, even if we have to protest and demonstrate dayly in front of SM Town 😒

The thing is the other 4 mem is in sm company so not all mems want to left unless your leader ask your whole group prefer leaving same goes to hot dbsk exo

@@monsterbaek1648 which member wants to stay with SM?? Chanyeol and Sehun?? They already tried to left SM, remember last year ! Kai?? I bet he will follow Taemin when he's back from the military. Suho?! Well, although he's the leader, they will follow what the whole group wish, not what he alone says, and, honestly speaking, he was the loudest to bash SM every time 😏 The problem here was the pressure was putting the company on each one, with threats and empty promises, that's why some of them, like Baekhyun, extended their contracts, although, because of lack of transparency (problem raised by CBX long ago), we don't really know what kind of contract therms has each member 😞

SM never learned.. They have been sued since HOT,, lets see if they will get sued by NCT members in the future
