Exhausted Sheep sinking in QUICKSAND was ready to give up. 🐏 Here is the RESCUE 🐏

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Lambs bleating caught my attention but I was shocked to find this poor Sheep sinking in quicksand! I had to act quickly, or she would surely have met a horrible end, but what could I do?
Perhaps I could alert the farmer and hope he was not busy and could get to her on time to drag her out with ropes and a tractor? But I had no idea where the farm was and the farmer may not even be around, so no, that wasn't an option. I had to somehow try to free her, without sinking myself!
Please see below for further description and to jump to any part you like of the video.
0:00 I spotted this poor Sheep sinking in Quicksand.
0:10 She looks back at the bleating Lambs.
0:25 After a 2-hour plus struggle she is almost out.
1:03 She looks at me as if to ask me for one last effort.
1:33 She looks back at the Lambs once more and tries so hard to get out.
1:48 I managed to free her legs.
1:58 Her ordeal is finally over and she is out of danger.
2:12 Once she has calmed down and got her breath back, she enjoys the taste of fresh grass once again.
I stayed with her for a while ( I needed a rest myself too! ) and she just carried on eating and eating, which was great to see. The Lambs seemed a little nervous about me, so I then left and found the farmer's wife, who thanked me and assured me she would make sure it was safe and that any holes in the fence would be repaired straight away. 💗

So thankful the sheep and you were both okay. When I was a freshman in college in Florida our soccer field was near a patch of woods bordering a swamp. We were playing “Capture the Flag” and some of the guys on my team decided to cut through the woods to sneak past the other team. I took the opposite direction and pretended to be a member of the opposing team. Not too long after I heard a terrible scream-one of the guys fell into quicksand. He was rescued and that game was never played there again.

Hello, my friend, that sounds like a terrifying experience for the guy who wandered into quicksand. I think the difference between being saved or not is how far you have managed to get away from a firm side. The Sheep was close to the edge but had it been a foot or so further away I would have really struggled to help it and may have gotten into trouble myself. Thankfully, it turned out well and for your friend too! thank you for watching and for the interesting story too. 👍( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Hi Anita, it is always great to hear from you. It was a very slim chance that I came across this poor Sheep, as it really was 'in the middle of nowhere' as I had wandered well away from the pathways and over a number of fields. Hi Dave, I hope you and your wife are well my friends. yes, it is very lucky that there was an edge close to firm ground. My feet sank a little when I first gave it a tug and I honestly thought at one point that I would struggle more than I actually did. I don't know how long the poor thing had been in the quicksand, but it did not have long left, had I not been in the area. I must add that it was the farmers' fault for leaving a fence in disrepair. Surely a secure fence should be second nature to any farmer? Well, obviously not in this case. Thank you for watching, my good friends.👍◕‿◕

Hi Manu, indeed the ending would have been horrific for the poor Sheep and I'm not sure if the Lambs would have strayed into trouble. Maybe half an hour later would have been too late, so it really was a lucky Sheep. Looking back now, the fence should have had warning signs on it too, not that the Sheep could read it, lol, but for walkers with Dogs, for instance. I hope the farmer followed up and fixed the tatty fencing. Thank you for your continued support, my good friend. Have a great weekend. 👍◕‿◕

Oh my, I didn't realize that the UK had quicksand, but actually it looks more like swampland muck, and we have plenty of that! Oh it's fun to scrub off as LOL I'm sure you know! Is there a certain depth to the quicksand or is it quite deep? It seems that if a farmer has quicksand on his property, (s)he wouldn't fence that part of his land, but kudos, Jane, for rescuing the mama, and I'm sure she's baaaing her thanks!! I like the Good Samaritan approach to this share. More people need to step up and be more attentive to the animal world! Huge nature art hug 🥰🥰

Hi Cheryl, it is mud, but quicksand can be sand or mud and it is the same thing. (I googled it tbh lol) Yes, it is lovely to wash off, especially in all the laces of your walking boots, what a joy! ◕‿◕ I have no idea how deep it went and wasn't waiting about or jumping in it to find out! LOL. It would be very nice if others were more aware of their surroundings when out in nature as Wildlife and Birds often need a helping hand. Hello again my friend and thank you for returning to my channel. The Sheep had zero chance of survival and every time it struggled, it made the ground softer and sank a little more. It was a minor miracle that I heard the struggle from where I was, which was well off the pathways I should have been on and where very few people ever venture. If I had not come along, I'm not sure the Lambs would have been able to find their way back to the hole in the fence and safety either. Thank you for your kind comment. Good morning Andrea, yes, it was a terrible thing to stumble upon, because I just knew that the Sheep, and possibly the Lambs too, would have surely died a horrible death, if I did nothing. If it were not in the early afternoon, I'm not sure I would have had enough time of day to pull it out. I like to think any animal lover would have tried their very best to save it. Most of our quicksand is on the beach, in less popular areas (well, they would be, lol). There was a teenage boy who sank with his motorbike on the beach near my home, despite the best efforts of passers-by and firemen to save him. I did eventually find the farmer's wife, who promised to move them to safety and fix the fence, but I could not wait about to make sure. I was a fair distance away from the car. (she did not offer me a lift back to my car either) In fact, she did not seem too grateful. Oh well, I'm sure the Sheep were. Have a great weekend, my dearest friend. 👍◕‿◕

@@AndreaNature I don't think the farmer gave a damn about his animals. The way she was with me left me a bit deflated. i didn't expect her to bow at my feet or give me any sort of reward for saving the Sheep, but a sincere 'thank you' would have been nice. I said to her, "I have gone the opposite way to find your farm and I'm a long way from my car now" ... hoping she might at least offer me a lift back to my car, but nothing of the sort. Oh well, some people are like that. In an ideal scenario, I would have a little land at my home and could have bought the Sheep and 2 lambs and kept them as pets for as long as they lived. I have had a Sheep before when I was younger. I know you would have done the same and saved the Sheep as you are one of lives good and caring people. Thanks again my dear friend. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Hi Brenda, I hope you and Chris are well. We don't have many areas where there is known quicksand. A friend of a friend died horribly in quicksand and his motorbike sank under too. That was on the beach less than 10 miles from my home (around 35 years ago). I imagine if the farmer allowed a builder to dump a truckload of bricks into it that it would certainly help and then keep filling with limestone until there is a solid footing. The farmer is responsible as it is his land and up to him to fence the area off more securely and put some warning signs around the fence too! It beggars belief there were no warnings! I'll go back there at some point and I'll check to fencing. Thank you as always for your sincere and kind comment. I truly appreciate it. *Please continue to take care and stay safe when out in nature, my dear friends. *Hugs* 👍◕‿◕

Hi DOD, I wish I had some land and I would have bought the Sheep and Lambs and had them as pets! There was no reward of any sort, not even a lift back to my car, as I had to go a good mile or so further out of my way to find the farmer's wife. She just promised to return them to the field they came from and fix the hole in the fence. Mind you, she probably thought I was exaggerating when I told her how deep it had already sunk, etc. Thank you for watching, my Deer friend. 👍◕‿◕

What a terrible situation for the sheep to be caught in. Poor animal was exhausted. I have handled sheep in the past and know how heavy they are especially with soaked wool. I bet you had sore muscles afterwards, but such a happy ending👍

Hello, my friend, yes it was an awful scenario at first sight and I did not think I'd be able to move the poor thing at all, as I did not think I would even get close enough myself. Oh my word, it was *exhausting* and at first, I just could not make any difference, but I was never going to give up. Finally, after a few hours efforts, the lucky Sheep was free and yes, I felt so many aches and pains that night and especially the next 48 hours or so. But it was well worth it. Thank you for watching and for your thoughtful comments. Have a great day! 👍◕‿◕

Hello my friend, the Sheep was super lucky that I stepped over a fence and was actually there at all that day, as it was 'private property'. Thank you for watching and for your kind comment. 👍◕‿◕

Yes, it was very sad to see. The poor Sheep might have been sinking for many hours and they usually spend all their time eating grass. But in the end, I pulled her out and watched her eat plenty of grass. She was very hungry indeed. I told the farmer's wife and I hope she returned the Sheep to the field where the others were. Thank you for watching and for your kind comment, my friend. 👍◕‿◕
