I am having the same issues at 9 weeks, pain behind the knee, calf and hamstring cramps, some swelling. I am frustrated! thanks for this info. I may vary my exercise plan. My PT focused on stretching yesterday. I am a retired fitness instructor and trainer so I probably want too much too soon!

The recovery after surgery is rarely as fast as we wish! Stay the course, even if it may not feel like you are making progress, stick with it and you'll notice the payoff soon enough. Best of luck!

Same here! My PT is for 1 1/2 hours. They had me scheduled for Mondays Tuesdays and Thursday. The 3 days they are open. This Thursday will be is 8 weeks. It was absolutely too much. I cut them back to Tuesday and Thursday.Prior to my PT last Tuesday I was walking PERFECT and fast. After PT I was walking STIFF LEGGED again. The day after pain behind the knee. TIGHT Hamstrings and knee swelling again. Tuesday I did sit and stands 15 reps for 3 sets, then Leg presses for 15 x 3 sets, then the stationary bike for 10 minutes. IMHO too much besides the other exercises prior to these! HELP!!!!!

I had the same problems behind my knee and my hamstring. PT massaged them i it went away. Seems to be an ordinary symptom af TKR

I'm 4 months out and I can do everything. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on Leslie Sansones indoor walking workouts? She has a five mile that one I love, but I'm not sure about it because it's repetitive. It's just walking in place, lateral side steps, alternating knee lifts, alternating kicks, and walking up and back in a floor count. For however long, with sooner overhead arm raises etc and variations Soo you don't get bored.

Thanks for the question! It sounds like a great work out. I recommend when you first decide to try it don’t do the whole workout but rather start with 15-20min to see how you tolerate it and build up the duration over time as tolerated.

Doctor is kicking a soccer ball into a wall any good? They had me doing it last week. I went out and bought a soccer ball. I feel it helps me with the knee swinging motion. Thoughts? I had Knee replacement March 3rd. I had tore my meniscus in 2 places. That happened last July. The first Doctor was treating me for aggravated arthritis. It ruined my vacation. I actually had to find an Orthopedic group on vacation. They drew 60 cc's of fluid out. Came home and finally was sent for an MRI. Showed the 2 tears. September 10th surgery. It never got better.2 weeks after I had 40 cc's drained and 2 weeks after that another 20. New Doctor took more X-rays. Bone on bone with bone chips and bone spurs.New Doc said first Doc should have replaced the knee instead! I had The MAKO surgery on March 3rd with new Doc.

This can be a beneficial and fun exercise. Like you noted, it helps work on the knee swinging and range of motion which is good for walking. I also would recommend trying kicking with the opposite leg and then you can work on your stability, balance, and comfort with standing on the surgical leg.
