Exercise Black Bayonet 2023 | New Zealand Army

Secure and stabilise 💪 Go behind the scenes with our New Zealand Army soldiers from 2/1 Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment as they take on Exercise Black Bayonet.
The scenario-based exercise threw 200 of our soldiers into tactical stability and security phases set in a fictional island nation.
Soldiers worked to:
♦️Seek out insurgents in the area
♦️Secure key buildings and roads
♦️Conduct patrols around the district
♦️Practise working with local police force
♦️Perform relevant combat care to wounded personnel
This training is an important step in ensuring our Army is a high utility multi-role combat force that is equipped and prepared for future challenges.
“Having the opportunity to get out the door and train in this part of the country is great for the battalion. The Reefton community are fantastic hosts and have made us feel at home. The individual and collective skills that have been developed throughout this exercise will see our people ready to continue building to the Joint Readiness Exercise in 2024. Kura Takahi Puni - We Are Ready.” ~ Lieutenant Tony Calder-Steele, Battalion HQ
