I think what annoyed Cody was the actual production of the show itself. Cody wanted to teach real survive skills, not film a Hollywood TV show. He didn’t like faking scenes like the one where he threw everything into the water. Clearly, the only reason he had to throw everything down was for the camera. Cody disagreed with the production of the show and he’s even stated before that, “I’ve never watched the show because it’ll probably just piss me off”.

Since we later learned that Dual Survivor is a full production with catered food and everything.

I'm not sure what is so "unexplained"... you can see that Cody is trying to do survival as an absolute safety-first philosophy. That means that you don't throw your way of starting fire (a lighter and a dry rag) down to someone who is in water. You have that person move to the dry land, as cody asked him to do, and then throw it to him so if joe misses it, it doesn't fall in the water and you've ruined a resource.

The whole point of the show is two people with generally conflicting survival strategies have to work together. Key word here: Together. Dave obviously had his own thoughts on Cody's methods, but after a little time, he respects and somewhat understands them. Multiple times Dave mentions that he has to take care of Cody from certain threats due to his feet, such as keeping an extra eye out for snakes and whatnot. Seeing him as his partner, not a problem. His feet has indeed been a burden in certain situations, but rather than get annoyed, he simply understands it's something he has to deal with and takes that into account. And as we see, they work together brilliantly.
