I took a class with Kody, he lives in my town and teaches survival courses at our community college. The dude knows his stuff. Aboriginal Living Skills is the company. We did a 3 day course where we made fire bows, bowls, used natural water treatment systems, and foraged.

In AZ we have huge elevation variants, and our “alpine” environment life zone he mentions how to protect yourself if your plane crashes and you happen to survive. It’s some $3500 bucks for 7 days, with 1 day in each zone.

I noticed Cody never complained at all about the temperature, only joe. I feel like joe couldn’t handle it and tried to shift the attention to him “being concerned Cody is too cold”

In fact he was forcibly removed from the Special Forces Association, a nonprofit formed in 1962, which has only happened to like a dozen people, for lying about his record. So yeah, another fake warrior, special forces poser, stolen valor guy. At least Dave apologized and spent a good amount of time reconciling and making up for his mistake, Joe is still in full damage control denial mode and likely will always be. Such is the way with narcissists.

The point is the guy in shorts needlessly exposes himself to hypothermia and frostbite. If he had wet clothes that could freeze on him, it would be a different story but that wasn't the case. Playing that game brings the risk of having a weakened partner draining your energy dragging him, your resources treating him and that does not guarantee he'll get back on his feet at anytime. At this point, he threatens your own survival. I would freak out too. And even if he was really fine and nothing turned south, it's not because you can take a risk that you must take that risk, much less in a survival situation. Unless you can point to me what was the gain of going shorts on top of the risk of keeping decent pants in such a weather, then getting pissed at this dude is justified.

Legs are the biggest muscle group in the body and they're constantly being heated up by walking. As a fellow with big legs like Cody, I can totally understand. I used to wear jeans in the winter back in New England. Anything thicker and they would become drenched with sweat after an hour of shoveling snow.

You know i actually tried just wool socks in snow because of Cody and it really does work. It looks crazy but you all should try it before you comment. Less stroud has done an interview where he specifically says he would never work with Cody or any tv survival actors as he calls it. He said it’s a pipe dream that fans should just forget about it. Me personally I think Cody is the best survival instructor of our time. He really lives this way all the time,not just on TV. Less stroud is great as well but his ego will never allow him to work with Cody. And am sure Cody doesn’t ever want to be on TV again. It would be awesome though!!

The behind the scenes on this one really shows what really happened. Joe is standing there SCREAMING about the mission and how it jeopardize his safety while 10 crew members on snowscooters stand around feeling awkward. Joe constantly larped being in a warzone and it took away from the survival aspect of the show in favor of drama.

Idiot Both are life and death situations, If someone chooses to dress stupid because of pride, and inevitably goes down then everyone else has to suffer also by aiding to them

I definitely wouldn't be wearing shorts in that weather , but I do trust that guys survival skills. He's just tough as nails

They should've put Dave and Joe together, and cody and Matt together, that would have been 2 good shows

Gosh Joe through out the whole time together kept saying where he came from ... like ok we get u were in the military. Everyone would pick Cody over u for surviving.

Freezing temperatures, fading light, no shelter.... Better take a break to talk to the camera and complain about each other.

I have worked out and some cold weather in my time when I was a framer in the wintertime always where wool my people are from irelamd you dont see cold sheep

He's doing that in order not to sweat which will make you hypothermic. I use to wear t shirts in the snow when working outside. I genuinely don't think it was a gimmick but he could of explained that

Cody is that one kid from highschool that wears the gym shorts in winter

Joe: "can't stop to argue" as he stops to argue like he never had any clue Cody would be in his normal socks and shorts

unlike other materials wool keeps you still warm even if it is wet. it is kinda op actually

Cody is cold adapted to such an extreme level he can do things 99% of other humans can’t.

Not true. He just has a lifetime of knowledge and experience. Multiple pair of wool socks, wool gloves, wool hoodie/parka/anorak, wool cap, and a wool waist cloth tied around your belly button/core. Even with shorts, most folks already acclimized to the cold weather would also be pretty toasty. The key is that wool wrap around the waist. That's an OLD trade secret there for warmth.

The producer, camera and sound guys filming this are in for a rough night, at the hotel. Will they survive the night at the hotel bar? Stay tuned to find out!

As a veteran myself I say Joe is a tool. I don't care if he has 50 combat tours under his belt, and 5000 successful missions he's the one jeopardizing the "mission". He's out of depth with this in comparison to Cody. He knows what he's doing. I wouldn't want to ride to the store with GI Joe. I'd trust Cody to lead me through the 7 layers of hell.

It's a TV show none of you are in real danger!!!!

Someone once described the show as a hardcore real-life RPG.

Cody looked pretty comfortable. I think Joe just couldn't take the cold even with pants so he's trying to hide it by blaming Cody's shorts lmao.

I loved this show as a kid but now that I’m older I just think these guys are halarious. It’s such a perfect “comedy/ reality “

The fact u watched this show as a kid is admirable by itself. When I was a kid I was watching Pokemon and Power rangers lol

I can see both sides to this argument. Is socks and shorts ideal? No. But it is an excellent teaching point on survival. I will say joe was also right for his concern for cody.

Meh. Some people are different. I wear shorts and a tshirt year round. No matter what the weather is. Stopping without is DUMB.

Try visiting Yakutsk or Oymyakon in Siberia with just socks and shorts on Cody. Temperatures -71C record lows of minus 96.

Three pairs of wool socks and no boots is a good play. Do you have any idea how insulated his feet are? And his feet will remain breathable and not sweat without boots. You sweat in these conditions you die. Absolutely pog.

I live in the highlands and without shelter you’re screwed. 40mph winds on average and it’s not uncommon to be over 60mph also common temp for winter months is under 30 degrees Fahrenheit

If he's not losing limbs or dying of hypothermia, he knows what he's doing. He even said it during the show, he's practiced his style for 20 years but doesn't recommend it for the average survivalist.
