    I watched this video 3 times then I went out and bought the B Fast 694 30" barrels. This is a very smooth shooting gun the wood is a matching vertical grain and even color and so beautiful grain of special wood. Beretta this is way better than my 686 sp sporter. This gun feels like an old school gun for sure.

    Very glad that Beretta admits this gun is a step back which is a good thing. There is nothing else to discover in shotgun world. Keep a proven design well made and you will have happy customers. I noticed that when he pushes the top lever the barrels do fall to the open position on their own weight. Is this a good thing for a gun that supposed to stay tight- forend/receiver tension- for very long time ? I am a little skeptical on Berettas gimmics when they try to find a " solution " like self adjusting mechanisms to cover guns wear......maybe in a sort while they will take one more step back-with a 696- and tel us that we don"t need them and fixed ones are better !! Still like the honest simplicity of a 686 sporter when it comes to a Beretta. Lloyd thank you for this interview and enjoy Italy !!

    When the man said let’s take a step, it was because he was getting ahead of himself on talking about the design. Not a step back in quality, features, or technology!!! What do you want any manufacture to do? Build one really nice and thought out gun, then never change it and only produce that same thing for years? That doesn’t make any sense at all. Newer designs and manufacturing technology must move on. Also new Shooter’s usually want a new gun not a 20-30 yr old used gun that’s shot 250k+ and still cost $2500. Also I feel like guns without a palm swell feel thin and weird. Where I do agree with you is that the gun just slams open, and he lets it. Now WTF is up with that? Was that there test gun that has fired 250k+ ?

    @@lloydyp A great (very early) example was the Winchester 101 Diamond Grade. Also, the early beretta 682’s. I remember buying a brand new beretta 682 skeet gun in 1993. They offered three different stocks and two different forends and two different barrel lengths (28”/30”). The issue with Skeet is sporting clays. Many years ago Gun manufacturers shifted their priorities and started producing sport shotguns more suited to SC. This has limited skeet shooters to buy Blaser’s, Kolar’s or Kreighoff’s. For a while Browning made a reasonably priced Pro Sport Citori skeet gun. I guess my point is that for many years Beretta made a dedicated skeet gun with options that was very reasonably priced.

  • @bgjb-r1499

    @bgjb-r1499

    @@lloydyp A skeet gun and a sporting clays gun are different because the disciplines are different. Skeet is a monotonous game where the objective is to shoot 25 targets from eight different stations without missing a single target not just in a round but in an entire tournament. Sporting clays is game where the trajectory of the clays vary depending on the course, due to the constant changes the challenge in SC has become a game of how many targets you can hit. This not only makes both sports profoundly different, it makes the equipment different as well. If you look at your top American skeet shooters the guns are pre-mounted and must be a perfect extension of their bodies, any variation results in a lost target or two. So, what does this perfection mean? Well, at 21-25 yards your 12ga. & 20ga. must provide a 50-50 to a 55-45 split on the patterning board “consistently”. The 28ga.-410bore is naturally choked down a bit .005-.008 to offer a bit of a denser patter at the distances listed above. The stocks are usually straight, in other words the identical drop at the comb and heel. Today many are Monte Carlo’s, when I started there were perfectly straight less bulky stocks. The optimal barrel lengths are 28 to 30 inches with the latter being preferred. A skeet gun must provide a minimal amount of recoil so the guns are usually weighed down a bit.

  • @lloydyp

    @lloydyp

    3 жыл бұрын

    I wasn't asking for the difference between the disciplines as I've been shooting for over 30 years. My question is what spec would you put into a dedicated skeet gun. Given the fact that I shoot all disciplines with 1 gun from trap through sporting and skeet with some success I've never felt the need of a dedicated gun for each discipline. Indeed I prefer to shoot 1 gun well with the same chokes rather than mincing about changing. Equally I would argue that Beretta for instance make a number of guns with sufficient adjustability that there is no need for a "skeet" gun. You can just buy a DT11 black and set it up to shoot whatever you want. I'm a jack of all trades shooter of course and not interested in specialising.
