Excerpts: Shakespeare's examination of Power and Contrast

In this short extract from our full length video "Shakespeare: The Genius We Never Knew" we look at two of his dark plays- Titus Andronicus and Measure for Measure. In both plays he examines the corruptive nature of power and contrasts such themes as tragedy and comedy, as well as deeper themes of justice and excess.

Aquinas pervades Shakespeare, who is essentially a pre-Protestant sensibility. He is not originating these contrasts. Rather, he is re-ploughing Aquinas's furrow.
