So many great memories of this run, especially the initial arc and Inferno crossover issues. I really hope that this sells well enough to warrant at least one more omnibus to clear issue 50. Great video as always, Omar! I really appreciate your attention to detail, comparing the original issues with this book. Keep up the wonderful work.

Love Excalibur! Anytime Alan Davis was involved it was pure magic, hoping for a Captain Britain Omni reprint and a Marvel Legends box set someday.

You simply can't go wrong with the first Excalibur series. Top notch creative team with some entertaining stories and good all around fun. I have it as an Epic collection but get it in whatever format you want for your reading pleasure.

Finally, my most awaited omnibus. you must be real happy because you love this series so much, i recall you did custom bound omnis of this run.

This came up as recommended video, since I keep up on your current stuff... funny timing with the April reprint. I hope everyone wanting it is able to get it this time around. I missed it, but have already pre-ordered. I didn't realize the image under the sleeve!!! I have that poster still from back in the day. Corners are a little worse for where from pinholes and taping/retaping, but still love it.

I remember my dad bringing home a box of comics from his job at Kennedy Airport. I got a large chunk of Excalibur comics.I wait with baited breath for my TOW order. I want to read this again with the missing issues that i missed so bad. I believe this was the last one in the order which will cost $350.

This omnibus is my childhood. My older brother got me into comic books. I remember when he would explain to me what was going on in the issue when Juggernaut fought Captain Britain. Nostalgia. "Look at all that water". Great video Omar.

Loved this comic when it was coming out! My copy will be here on Dec. 1st- Looking forward to it! Btw- yeah that pattern in the coloring looks an awful lot like a scanning artifact like a moiré from a halftone. Would see that a lot back in the day when we scanned printed pages and especially printed photographs.

It has to be in a chronological order, it is great to have to complete run. Got this on pre-order. Didn't know anything about the series before the mention of this omnibus but it does look very good, so looking forward to it - thanks for the video and making my mind up whether to get it. Hope the Captain Britain omni will be reprinted (bought those when they came out in the UK weekly)

I actually would've preferred a more creator oriented focus for this...the issues in between Claremont and when Davis resumed as a writer are not good imo, and neither are the fill-in issues during the Alan Davis run when he was writing and penciling the book. I wish they had just collected 1-24 and 42-52, 54-58, 61-67, but I'm sure I'm in the minority. Good overview as always Omar! "Whoo! Look at all that water!"

I always thought of Excalibur as X-Men without the baggage which made the character development easier to follow and understand.

I was just about to buy this in Epic collection earlier this year but once the omnibus was announced I decided to wait. I'm excited for the series as it was not an X title I read during it's original run but I always wanted to. For whatever reason it seemed to be hard to find on newstands. I pre-ordered it wayy back in March so fingers crossed it arrives. The last three of the last four Marvel omnis I did order came through so I'm hoping I'll be lucky again. DC has been hitting it out of the park Nightwing omni was shipped out today!

I've had the epic collection on my wishlist. I noticed the omnibus and skipped it. Glad I waited, wanted to see the interiors before dropping for the big one.

Recommended reading before Excalibur? Have never read it. Great review as always!

I live in Sweden and buy from a seller in the Netherlands, they only get the books once a month now. And by then most of the Marvel omnis are OOP and if you haven't pre-ordered them the price usually are set to €140 ($165-170) for the regular and €150+ ($175-180+) for the DM. This has made me decide to get out of the Marvel collected editions as I once did with the single issues. This was supposed to be a fun hobby, not the thing it now has become, panic buying because of FOMO. The store I buy from doesn't even get any any DC collected anymore because the shipping to Europe is making the prices for the customer to steep to make it worthwhile.

You might try sending an e-mail to Hovistocose in Italy. Prices for newer releases, both collections and single issues, are the most competitive ones I know of in the EU (CC in the Netherlands which arguably is what you used in the past tends to be more pricing aggressive with clearances) and new stuff is delivered twice a month, but they too basically only work on pre-orders. Very few online stores in Europe have a significant backlist available, and when they do they sell it at premium prices to justify the shipping costs. Unless you live in Paris, where there are lots of incredible stores, including specialty ones for US comics, with huge shelves full of stuff for the last 3-5 years. But then again, they are brick and mortar only bookstores. So in the end, pre-orders are the only reasonable way to collect Omnibus and HCs/TPBs in Continental Europe (well, London is a different beast).

Nudge nudge. Ultimate Spider-Man 2, 3, 4 and more...

Got a copy of the first issue cover coming from IST. The Knights of Pendragon cover makes me wonder if those issues will be included within a future volume. Really hoped they would have included the letter pages as they are perk of omnis representing series that I like very much.

Turned up today, being a Brit I went for the DM cover! 😀

@@JennySparkz Forbidden Planet online store in the UK.By Forbidden Planet I mean the one that runs the megastore in central London. I think a different company runs some of other Forbidden Planet stores in the UK.

Great video. I picked up a lot of Excalibur. It peaked my interest after Days of Future Present because it had Rachel Summers/Grey. Thanks for the review. I've been a bit out of the loop, but I heard Marvel got rid of Rachel. Did they do that, and if so why?

Do you know if the Captain Britain Tpb by Davis and Delano was collected in this omni. I remember seeing is a lcs I used to frequent years ago with the other one shot tpbs collected in this omni.

My LCS still hasn't gotten my preorder from diamond for the DM variant. To be fair i only preordered the book about a week before release date so after FOC. I think there still stock of the DM. Worst case scenario i'll get the standard cover. Thanks Omar I can't wait to see that oversized Allen Davis art.

I was also there from the get go for this comic,same goes for Alpha Flight! Think I'm gonna need this Omnibus and the Alpha Flight one coming too,it still is isn't it? Oh,I also have both one-shots , Mojo Mayhem from '89 & Air Apparent from '91 and the comic Album Weird War III.

I would really like Marvel to revisit Captain Britain and do it properly, starting with the Clairmont, Trimpe stories from 1976 onwards, then perhaps colouring in the Parkehouse, Stokes Black Knight storyline as well.

Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t it help if you read Allan Moore’s captain Britain first?

I would MUCH preferred that this was just Claremont and Davis stuff. Much of Excalibur outside of them was terrible. As it is I will now have to fork out twice to get the superior solid run by Davis which will probably be in vol 2.

As a UK Marvel fan of a 'certain age' 🤦‍♂️ I'm a huuuuuge Brian Braddock and Meggan fan as I grew up with their stories over here (Moore, Thorpe, Davis)......so I was really excited when they started showing up in Marvel US mags......but they were often ill served in Excalibur. I would have moments of genius and then moments of........Scott Lobdell 😢

That weird shading you mention, I swear that shows up in the Longbow Hunters omnibus as well.

Looks like there was a last-minute change to the contents? IST has "Collecting Excalibur Special Edition (1988) #1, Excalibur (1988) #1-49, Excalibur: Mojo Mayhem (1989) #1, Excalibur: Weird War III (1990)." Amazon and CGN are now showing the actual contents in the product description.

Nah, Amazon has had those contents for months. IST just never changed the original contents that were changed almost immediately (after Omar approached David)

So the conspiracy was true, you were trying to suppress the pixilated images on those few pages. #PixelGate 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously though, thanks for another good overview. I've been wanting to read Excalibur for a while, so I made sure to preorder it.

Wow... I've recently developed an interest in buying omnibuses of all my favorite books from the 80s/90s... I've only read a little bit of Excalibur, because financially, I had to make choices back in the day. But watching your video makes me want to buy this one as well. Thanks a lot! No, seriously ;-)
