When I jumped into the omni collecting game a few years ago I couldn't believe how much great omnis I missed out on. I was pissed off I didn't get into the game sooner. Now all these great omnis I missed out on are coming back! So happy! I want to pick this up but I got my heart set on the jsa omnis.

Pretty sure comics/graphic novels/omnibus collections are one of the few forms of print media that are actually thriving. I could be wrong but it sure seems that way.

Great job as ever Uncanny Omar. The issue #98 actually had Stan Lee & Jack Kirby in the opening page with the Christmas Tree; its a later issue after Byrne joined the creative team when you see Claremont & Byrne. This run from Giant Size all the way to issue #143 (last Byrne issue) are among the best comics ever and I still remember frantically waiting for each issue when I was a freshman and sophomore in high school!

Hi Omar thanks for your videos they have really helped me decide what to collect. Regarding the Days of Future Past story, is there any more content that hasn’t been included in the omni? There is a hardcover titled DOFP and it looks substantially thicker than the two issues in Vol 2

Hope these come back into stock. I had volume 1 pre-ordered on Book Depository but they canceled my order because of issues with stock. Had my eye on these as soon as the reprints were announced

I like how some of the omnis include uninked covers. You can really see a lot more details, especially with the Mike Zeck covers for Secret Wars.

Hi Omar first of all thanks for all the great content. You have really honed in your craft. I started reading the new printing version of vol1 and before every sitting I follow all the steps to relax the spine - but I can’t get the eye formation no matter how many times I go through the process. Is that something I should be worried about? (It looks like it must be glued to the spine or something)

Love that first original printing, it's heavy like Heil but I like the thick paper and the yellowed letter pages. Just great and the only of those early omnibus editions I own 💞

Volume 1 came this morning from IST to far away Bosnia and my Volume two is coming in a few days also from IST. I am so happy to finally have those gems and read my favorite stories. Volume 1 and 2 came back in stock at IST and volume 2 is already gone but volume 1 is available with both covers. I also got Excalibur and eagerly waiting for New Mutants Omnibus. 🖖🍀🙏

Vol 2 is ridiculously expensive the cheapest one is like $195 right now. I guess it’s an incredible vol.

Is vol 2 out of print again? every time i look it up i get the 2016 release and amazon is OOS but vol 3 is still fully available.

More room for more omnis!

I ordered the Vol 1 reprint from two shops and BOTH failed to deliver, and kept saying "out of stock, coming soon" despite me having pre-ordered. In the end, I had to buy a second-hand copy of the original printing on ebay for a slightly inflated price. The UK seems to have received very few copies of the Vol 1 reprint this year, which is a shame but understandable given the events of 2020. Just glad I now have these amazing books in my collection.

Comparison videos are great! Thanks for making this video. :) I already got my new printing of Vol. 2 so I compared my copy with the copies you showed on the video. I find it odd that when I opened to page 349 (Doctor Doom cover you showed at the 10:53 mark on your video), my copy lays slightly more flat compared to both of your copies. However, my copy almost has no eyehole unlike your copy of the new printing. I noticed the same thing on pages 448 to 449 (11:19 mark on your video). My copy lays flat similar your copy of the original printing. This may be due to a natural variation in individual copies of the new printing.

I guess I got lucky with mine. :) But as you mentioned, gutter loss is not that noticeable anyway on this book due to the lack double page splashes. I'm also happy that both volumes will be reprinted again for those who missed out.

I agree the yellow pages make it feel like the singles. I also like the hardcovers that have newspaper stock over the glossy paper kus they feel like the singles, the colors look more like the OG & the books are lighter which is great for the book shelves . I wish more books took that DMZ , Y the Last Man route as far as paper quality on there hardcovers

Hey Omar! Just received my copy of UX Vol 2, now just waiting on backorder for Vol 1 - d'oh! But I also just received Excalibur Omni so shouldn't complain. War of the Kings is out of print, oh did you mean War of the Realms, that is showing backordered through Diamond, but I have let Marvel know about this.

I just got what I’m to assume is the, 3rd printing? The spines on both of my copies have adjusted fonts, being smaller, adding “the” to the titles Uncanny X-Men, and there are character borders on the bottom. Really cheeses me seeing them beside these style spines. Really hoping 3 & 4 get the updated treatment.

After repeatedly trying to get an eye, I did an aggressive stretch binding & my copy has no eye at all, guess i'm just unlucky.

On vol 1, the paper seems to either have yellowed or had a lower brightness initially. Do you remember it being that yellowed when you got it?

So what's interesting is that IF 15 is collected in the Epics and box set. However not in here. That may have broken up the Shi'ar storyline.

UXM Vol 1: I like how they adjusted the front cover art on the jacket on the reprint, notice how the CCA logo isn't cut off. Also, is it just me or does the logo on UXM vol. 1 (on the book itself) look off-center?

Question for omar or anybody in the comments section: How long before your comic book paper turns from white to brown/tan discoloration and is there any method to slow down the paper-aging process? Like do we need to seal in a plastic wrap or a container or something? I never thought about spending thousands of $ only for the paper to age like that lol

I've had my omnis some for 15 plus years and the only one that has turned a little yellowish..was the Uncanny volume 1, but I can't remember if that was the original "aged" color.

I preordered these two omniboo, but they cancelled my preorder for vol 2. I wonder what will happen with my preorder of volume 1. I preordered these from Bookdepository, which is owned by Amazon. Are these already OOP?

@@GLEN2K12 I've checked Amazon UK again and it says Uncanny X-Men 2 hasn't released yet, the only date it has is the 17th of November (which has already been) so who knows when it will arrive.

I'm finally getting around to collecting the X-Men Omnibus editions. It's something that's been on my to do list for a LONG time... I've ordered the Vol. 1 reprint reviewed here and I can't wait for it to arrive! Thanks for your excellent reviews, Omar, they will help me out a great deal in my mission to collect and read all the X-Men (and some related) stories!

Not really. I really like the modern covers as I get the original covers inside the book. Unless there is something nostalgic for me about the DM cover. Or in the case of Conan. That Standard Edition cover, was not for me.

Omar, do you know if Marvel will reprint volume 2 DM? I had it preordered a year ago from DCBS, they lacked sufficient stock to fulfill all existing orders on arrival day, but left it said Marvel left the order open to be fulfilled later. Just today got the notification from DCBS that they couldn't fulfill the order as the DM was discontinued, and looking on ebay they already sell for $300. Really disappointed in Marvel and DCBS on this one.

Yes, All of the new omni I buy from IST are 42% off. (44% off with the 2% loyalty discount) Up until earlier this year some of them were 50% off the week of release.

I've never bought an omni and I've seriously been considering picking up Uncanny X-Men vol 1 as my first. Not much of an X-Men fan but I've always been curious to read the run. Would you recommend it as a good starting point to get into X-Men?

Over the past year I’ve read the first 200 issues or so of X-Men and I totally think these two volumes in the video are the perfect introduction to the X-Men. Volume 1 consists of Giant Size X-Men (where the team was reinvented and the entire concept was updated) and then 94-131. Volume 2 has 132-153 plus a bunch of extras. For me, nothing can compete with GSXM, 94-143. Those issues were where the concept behind the X-Men was solidified and were constantly referenced afterward. The issues that came before, 1-66, were honestly pretty boring. If you tried to read them first you would probably never make it to the good stuff. (67-93 were reprints of issues from the first 66, so no need to check those out at all.) After 143 it’s still good but rarely reached the heights of that era.

The only x-men omnibus I have is the Dark Phoenix Saga omnibus. It's a great book but, in retrospect I should have purchased volumes one and two. 😕

@@NearMintCondition That's wrong. Hama knew what Claremont intended to do and decided to throw it out. In Wolverine #42 he had shield do a dna test and say Wolverine and Sabretooth aren't related.

Yeah that was Harras doing. He didn’t like that idea. I talked to Hama about that At a con. And Claremont’s X-men Forever shows more of what he wanted to do with the characters

Correct. But the title officially changed to Uncanny later. I remember 25 years ago arguing about this with my buddy Matt. I had just gotten issue 114…. How time flies.

No Omar the new printing of vol.2 never will have binding like older one even if your read it 50 times :-) It is other type of binding the cheaper one. Regards

​@@NearMintCondition Yeah I know, I have this books from RR Donnelley with good binding and bad binding, if look a those bindings in old printing of vol.2 you will see that there is no glue and we have that eye, in new vol.2 printing there is much glue like in that DC books and there is no eye is binding is stiff and sheets of paper cannot lift itself. The same salutation is with Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus new printing and old printing. Paper is the same. You have other book form Turkey Absolute Carnage Omnibus is made there, this books have thinner paper than the books from RR Donnelley, I have Wolverine vol.1 from Turkey (with regular cover were made there) and you can read what is on other side of the paper, in books like Absolute Carnage it is not big deal because it is new material and whole pages are printed.
