“Divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived.” That is a little rhyme they teach middle school kids in the UK to help them remember the wives in history class. But that means the wives are defined only by how they died, so most people don’t know much about them. Except the second wife - Anne Boleyn. People think they know a lot about her but most of what they know is lies spread as an excuse to get her beheaded because she only gave birth to a girl and couldn’t give King Henry a son. To be fair, there were literally no male heirs in his entire family line, so not having a son meant a very high chance of a war breaking out as soon as he died, so… It WAS actually kind of important that he have a son… And his only son died very shortly after he did, so it didn’t go too well in the end anyway.
