We all know the answer is money
TLDR: Single Player DLC was cancelled because GTA Online was such a massive cash cow.
That might be why Steven Ogg doesn’t like GTA anymore if his project got shelved after a bunch of work
We got doomsday heist instead
Gta online ruined so many good updates single player could have gotten... Genuinely just very disappointed, they could have released it anyways. The industry nowadays prioritises money over actual player enjoyment of the game
Obvious answer: Gta Online
I hope rockstar doesn't alienate the single player fanbase for GTA6. I personally only played GTAO for the online PSN trophies then never returned. Single player has always been my jam when it came to GTA. All of the exclusive online content from 5 that'll be returning to GTA6 single player seen in the trailer, will all be new to me.
people are still blaming Online for Single Player's downfall, but last time I checked, GTAO can't play by itself, it needs human players to have the main character do things. let's look at it like adults, it makes sense for R* to prioritize Online, if the feedback they were getting was so overwhelmingly positive (by their metrics), then why not give people more? it would've been AWESOME to have story expansions, obviously, and a lot of work was done for it already, it's a shame what happened, and I agree they could've done it anyways, but as a company, it makes sense to shift resources into the most profitable project. Rockstar and Take-Two aren't to blame 100% when it was the players who kept engaging with the game and microtransactions
The reason was greed. imagine my shock
It was very obvious that the reason why GTA 5's singleplayer DLC was cancelled was because they were very focused on GTA Online when it was making them a ton of money through shark cards.
What's worse is that we're most likely going to see the same thing happen with GTA 6.
What's most sad is they could do both thing? Like... how how many types of content we have in online?
I'm with the crowd that they could've done both but.........oh well!
As a Brazilian like SanInPlay, it's good to see people from my country having a good recognition and making podcast with a rockstar dev since we are a country that loves Rockstar so much.
San é brabo
What next he gonna reveal? That sky is blue? We all knew that for years now
They could've made the liberty city DLC playable in online. That'd make a killing
The fact that they said it needed to compete with itself and gta online is an oversight of gaming alone.
See it stuff like this that makes me sympathize with devs, because from what this guy said they do actually want to add cool stuff but higher ups won’t let them (I.e. TakeTwo)
A truly Money, money, moneyy!!!! moment
